Million Dollar Baby

So I went to see the movie Million Dollar Baby yesterday.
This is quite possibly the best film to come out in the last ten years.
Clint Eastwood directed, produced, scored, and starred in this masterpiece.
There wasn't an actor that wasn't spot on, a note that the movie could have done without, or a single word that when taken out would have made the movie better. This film played on every emotion in the crowd. At the end of the film, there wasn't a dry eye (men, and myself included). The crowd was dead silent for a minute or two, and then the packed theatre erupted into applause. Everyone do yourself a favor and go to see the movie that will sweep the oscars this year.

I'm happy to hear it's so good, has an 8.4 on imdb. I'm not really a boxing fan but the previews for this movie looked good, plus it has Hilary Swank :)
Can't wait to see it.

Clint Eastwood rocks ! a living legend from early tv westerns Look at Thunderbolt and lightfoot he amazes me year after year. I love all his work.

This movie was so fucking amazing. It should win best picture IMO. I loved just about everything about it. It wasn't too predictable, the characters were incredibly believable, and Eastwood spent the appropriate amount of time in each scenario.

Hillary Swank was, once again, fabulous in her portrayl of Maggie Fitzgereld. She became this Maggie Fitzgereld, which made it all the more heartbreaking of a film. Everything fit, from the trailer park she grew up in, to her lazy, selfish mother, to counting quarters for her boxing gloves.

I personally love Eastwood and agree with Hillary's comment at the golden globes about how it was his best performance yet. It fit Eastwood's demeanor perfectly yet left out the cheese.

Morgan Freeman's performance was top flight as well. I think this is his best supporting role, well, right behind Shawshank. Though he was a supporting actor Eastwood gave Freeman's charaters a good depth. After Freeman's trumphant scene the audience was nearly shouting out in happiness.

Million Dollar Baby affected me long after I left the theater. Throughout the rest of the night my mind continually wondered back to the beauty of Mo Cuisble. I can't wait to see it again!

Good Movie but too depressing...If you want a tearjerker than this is it...Im still waiting for the rematch !

pretty damn excited about this.

was very skeptical at first (despite adoring mystic river), but the reviews are so good that i can't help but want to see it.

Pretty much all movies nominated for oscars from 2004 were sad and depressing. One wonders, is that a theme as of late or is the academy just depressed ?

;)

Very very good movie... definitly wasnt the ending I was expecting!!

The Beginning made me excited. Ive been boxing for the last 3 months and I love it. I love everything about the way Hillary Swank Koed out the opposition it was fantastic.

The half way through it. It turned sad and I still liked the movie but I dont know. Was a tad depressing

GREAT movie!!!!! Loved every minute of it, except the guy that had his cell phone going off every 10 minutes.

Hillary's mom in the movie was such a bitch. I would never do anything for my parents again if they acted like that to me. She was such a good daughter and all she got was shit.

Excellent, it goes from one extreme of emotion to the other extreme. A movie with a spectrum of emotions that I have never seen. How could Clint be such a good filmmaker?Unpretentious, calm, meditated scripting, shooting and montage. Life is a tragedy. I felt like a I knew Hilary's character, like if I were a real witness of her life. She did deserve that Oscar!

I felt so bad for her.... it broke my heart

shiiit i just totally skimmed thru the whole thread lol in case there were spoilers...but helll i just got the DVD and im about to watch this! woot!

I finally got around to watching this movie. It was a very good movie but a little formulated. Hilary swank's family was to easily the bad guys, sure they weren't on screen much but all her mom did was bitch and then try to get her to sign the papers. Plus the ending was taken straight from "of mice and men", it even had the little dog killing story.
