I realise this has been discussed before but this place has no ' search' function.
Is it possible?
Can you address package to a previous tenant?
Can they charge you with anything if you don't open it and leave it unopened for ages?

well officer, it's like this you see, i was told it was illegal and all, so i never actually tried it, but, if you think for a while, *cough*, you could reduce their bulk somehow, and maybe consider a peak mail time etc. *cough*
ps. to the moderators, i know i'm on the edge of the precipice here, so feel free to push me off, and delete this post as you see fit.
pps. pink flirt, get yourself a hotmail address and all, and post a bit before asking such norty questions.
ppps. any resemblance to actual people and places are purely coincidental, and no animals were harmed in the process of posting this message.

DON'T DO IT
It's not worth it, and either you will get busted or the person who recieves it will get busted!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To cut a long story short I know someone who got some weed sent to them from interstate, but it didn't end up getting sent to their house. Instead they got this message in their mailbox saying to collect it at the post office.
So sure enough this person goes to the post office, signs the form to accept the package and then the cops arrest him. This package was just in an envelope mind you so there was no normal reason for it to be picked up.
The recipient ended up getting on a good behaviour bond and the person who sent it pretty much got off scot free. There is more to this story, but it's too long and complicated.
The moral of the story is that if you want to recieve stuff from Interstate, drive up there yourself, or catch the bus up there.
Mail is NOT the answer cause they randomly check your mail and you will get caught.

Working in the International Services Department of a Melbourne University I am suprised as we receive about 15 International Satchels (air bags) each day. Now because I open these I notice that rarely the customs seal is broken by customs yet one in every bunch is open.
I know you're not talking about international mail but its the same principal sending drugs through any mail is risky because they're always going to check just one and you never know which one they're going to check.
The one you put the drugs in or the one you didn't

If anyone gives you tips... they're also posting them in a public place where the coppers can also get the info... and learn how to crack down on it.
There is currently a crackdown on this exact thing, but I don't know what measures they're taking.

I have worked in a mailroom for a short period of time, and it would be very easy to fuck up.
Incorrect postage, an envelope that is too thick or heavy, etc, etc could lead to the mail being opened unless marked "private and confidential", then the post office opens it, if it is suss.
You are playing with fire, remember that.

mr fluffy, how could you infer such ideas???
where is your mind?
btw, thanks for the valentines.
it made my night.

As far as I know, the only people who work in the mail system that are allowed to open mail are customs officers (and in some cases, the people in the returned mail office when an article is addressed wrong, with no return address).
Australia Post are very strict with privacy. Retail staff aren't even allowed to open the mailboxes outside their post offices, even though they have the keys.
A couple of tips:
If anyone's thinking about importing from the UK or Europe via the mail - DON'T. All packages from there are being carefully examined because of the foot & mouth outbreak.
The international mail centre in Perth has recently been relocated to a new building in the airport, which they share with customs. I'm assuming this would mean better, more frequent checks of the mail.
If you're going to try it, make it undetectable and untracable. Its very hard, but it can be done. Knowledge of customs and the mail system is a must, and a friend who works in either system is a friend indeed

I cant see how anyone could charge you.... FOr one thing they couldn't charge the sender, as they don't even know who sent if he writes no return address. And i don't see how they could charge the reciever because that means i could just send drugs to a random address somewhere and they would get chucked in jail... Sounds likle a way to easy as to get back at someone.!...

i had a very close friend get some stuff sent through the mail.
it was express posted, and had no return sender on the back.
it had a different name on the fromt so if they did get busted they could just say that no one by that name lives there.
they had it the next day on their door step.
so the only risk i see is that it may not show up.
as for getting busted its highly unlikely in my opinion..

Express post of not, you're not likely to recieve it in some cases. and you don't know whether they will check it or not.
A friend was having caps sent down for use over the long weekend. Package was sent down via express post, and he should have recieved it the next day, but it didn't arrive. After many calls to the PO, they informed us that we had to wait til it was delivered and we weren't allowed to go and pick it up.
We eventually got it, but the fact that anything could have happened. They could have just decided open it up and take a peek, anything!! It's sooo risky!
He's not gonna try that again!

You live life once - so, go crazy, don't stop - make the most of it!

Do you think you could get away with sending "one" pill in the mail, but overseas to the U.S? Always wondered if they would bother doing anything about it if they did find it. This might be off the subject a little but I was just curious.

I occasionally send to the states to a friend. I haven't had any checked - all the 'packages' have arrived and made the recipient very happy. *smile*
Just think about it before you do it. Make really, really sure.

yes, of course if you put no return sender on the back and even a different name on the front, if they rock up to your door with an opened envelope and ask if its for you, you will not get busted.
of course they don't do that.
they open the package, find pills/whatever in there, carefully close it up, then deliver it as usual. then you open it up, and you get fucked up. once you have opened the package and gotten your pills out and done whatever with em, you can get farkkkked on.

put a lolly inside a cassette tape and send it. it will very likely get through.
obviously dont put a reply-to-sender address.
if you receive something in the mail you think might have something in it, dont open it. you're not liable for anything you havent opened, so you can leave it sitting in your house for a month and be totally unresponsible for it.
after a month you can pretty much be sure you wont get in trouble, go ahead.
;-)
LAWS AGAINST DRUGS PISS ME OFF. everybody should have the right to choose. one day im going to buy my own island and make my own rules, and you're all welcome to come and live with me ;-)

..dangermouse..
.you've gotta lose it.
.to find it.

Dangermouse- sorry dude but you will still get fucked on, its called wilful blindness.
Pereira v Director of Public Prosecutions- The accused was convicted of being knowingly concerned in the importation of cannabis resin and of possessing cannanis resin. The accused had received a package but not opened it under suspicion that it might contain some gear. The judge directed the jury to wilful blindness. It was held that a combination of suspicious circumstances and a failure to make proper inquiry may sustain an inference of knowledge.

we were talking about this the other day.
I have worked for oz post on and off and believe me if u sent something at christmas time u could easily get away with it, if: you seal the package really well (because everything is literally thrown into the giant metal crates ie don't wrap in brown paper because it always rips. (chucked a parcel wrapped in this and it ripped open to reveal some illegal porn mags, I had a somewhat red face when i had to take it into the office hehe)
but i think if you are sending a major bulk amount then yeah u are a bit of a dick
also does anyone know what happens when u get packages sent through couriers, especially the same day service ones? we were talking about this the other day and came to wonder whether packages that go through private couriers get checked. Does anyone have any ideas?
