Ocean's 12- Not too shabby

I saw this at a free preview screening and it was the first movie I have been too with such tight security! There were security people there hired by Warner Brothers to make sure you didn't bring in "any unauthorized recording devices." They searched all bags and everyone was subjected to a metal detector wand. Then after the movie started, this guy pulled out the night vision goggles and checked over the audience. Pretty fascinating!

Ocean's 12 was WAY better than Ocean's 11. I didn't really care for Ocean's 11 because I felt the movie was moving too slowly. Ocean's 12 had good pace and there were plenty of laughs. You can tell that the cast must have excellent chemistry on and off screen the way they were joking around with each other in the script.

I enjoyed how the movie travelled throughout Europe. There was also an excellent cameo by Bruce Willis.

All in all, it was very entertaining and worth seeing in the theater.

I loved Ocean's 11! I hope 12 is good even though I dont think it will be! This post is promising though!

The music was very appropriate for the movie and although I didn't recognize any of the songs, I liked it a lot. I commented to my husband that the camera work, the wardrobe, and the music all had a 70's feel to it. The camera was really shaky at times. I was sitting near the front of a packed theater and the girl next to me was getting dizzy.

oceans 12

rate it now...
and i just want to add that if i see geroge and brad in one more extra/some other bad tv show talking about lovely jennifer and how much fun thye had on the set and water balloon fights... im going to go crazy
oceans 12 overload for me, already

That's when you gotta love Howard Stern when he discusses how all the movie stars praise each other.

"Brad's just so perfect! He can cure cancer with his eye cheese!" LOL

I don't want to give anything away because there are a good number of excellent twists and surprises but I will say that I was thoroughly entertained by this film... MUCH better than the first, imo.

It was god awful.

Apart from one scene which involved a awesome track, lazers and a slow-breakdancing Frenchman.

The thing was like a hollywood in-joke caught on film and sold. Trash.

And yeah Isaw it at a premiere with metal detectors etc as well.

A free movie and I still felt ripped off.

1/5 for the breakdancing frenchman scene.

I also didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as I did Oceans 11. This was good, but not great... was funny but didn't blow me away... all in all it was just a trifle average.

However this may have had something to do with me being a little tired and unfortunately sitting in the front row (not by choice... stupid sold-out sessions...) so I'll probably go and see it again when in a better frame of mind...

CB.

how could this be good? the pacing of ocean's eleven was PERFECT.

(imnsho ;)).

seriously, the weird humour coupled with the pacing is pretty much what made it (actually, the direction and acting was good too, but still) - if this is faster paced i'm really not all that sure that it could work.

still, i will see it.

fyi - Actually, what the Frenchman was using to avoid the lasers was quintessential Brazilian capoeira, a dancing/fighting hybrid art. :)

Ah yep I should have picked it.

I have seen capoeira demonstrations a couple of times... and played Eddie on "Tekken 3" often.

Either way I loved that scene and I am interested in the song played in it.

you people who said this was bad are nuts! it was every bit as good as the first...totally unique film. the jokes were witty without being pretentious, and when you watch it a second time, you catch so much you miss the first time around. i loved every minute!

i saw it two days ago and i think it's better that the first. some of the the characters were fleshed out a little and some were overlooked but it's still a frothy caper movie with an excellent, upbeat script, easy-going, handheld look and great ensemble acting.

Worst thing I've seen in the theater for ages. I couldn't get the people I was with to leave with me about an hour into it, so i resorted to throwing popcorn at them for the last half hour.

Absolutely terrible.

Well I went back and saw it again... discovered that the first time I saw it, when I went out to go to the bathroom I missed one of the best bits... but hey...

I enjoyed it a whole heap more the second time. I picked up on a whole lot more things this time :)

So all in all I did enjoy it :)

CB :)

It sucked. Utterly. The camerawork was that of a stoned first-year film-studies student, the plot was utter crap, including the 'twist' at the end. Hell, ESPECIALLY the 'twist' at the end.
The capoeirista, Vincent Cassel, has been in much better things and sucked in this. As did, well, everyone.

Only two things worked for me. The first was the capoeira scene - and then only kinda, we can all spot CG by now and the lasers were weak.
The second was the running gag where EVERYONE spoke Mandarin. That cracked me up.

And the bit with Julia Robert's character? Great little joke. An absolute travesty to hang an entire 20 mins of the movie off.

Shit, utter shit.

The movie was trying too hard to be clever... when I had the whole thing figured out from the beginning. I give it two stars.

just got back from seeing it. Its ok. I think I am gonna go watch it again. I didn't truly appricate Oceans 11 untill the second time I watched it. So gonna see if the same holds true for this. oh yeah

"fyi - Actually, what the Frenchman was using to avoid the lasers was quintessential Brazilian capoeira, a dancing/fighting hybrid art"

somehow I knew that but I knew it from that really bad movie from the late 90's where that guys teaches it to the bad kids in a miami high school.
