Magic Mushrooms - Where? Identification?

I've recently been reading up on magic mushrooms, and have gone looking for them with a friend, we found a few specimens that look similar to what we'd read up on; namely bluing of the gills (even this we can't be sure of, they looked a bit greyish). We looked around Jells park, anyone from south eastern Victoria probably wouldve been there.
Anyway if anyone feels like helping me out, give me a vague location, or set me on the right track or give me a couple of tips it'd be appreciated.
peace.

Hey - I would strongly urge you NOT to eat ANY mushrooms you have picked in the wild. Mushroom identification is highly specialised and should only be undertaken by an expert. Unfortunately many species are DEADLY and look extremely similar to edible ones or magic ones that will just give you a high. Seriously - don't risk your life for the sake of a high. Only take magic mushrooms if you have a foolproof way of knowing that they are in fact magic mushrooms and not a deadly poisonous species that looks similar. The same warnings apply to people who are simply picking wild mushrooms to cook and eat.

I know it rains more over there than it does in WA but I'd be suprised if you can find any mushies at this time of year. In WA the season ended a long time ago. I'd expect you guys would only have an extra few weeks at most.
there are pictures of magic mushies about on erowid and such.
bell shaped,
gold tops are only on big ones.
There are no probs eating wild ones. There aren't any mushies I've seen that look similar. Otherwise you can buy a cultivation kit online.

good advice D&AWg.
Well if I was even REMOTELY uncertain if they were the real mcoy I would'nt touch them, but I'd rather trust myself than money hungry dealers looking to make a 100% profit.
I mean I wish there was a full proof way, I've heard if you cut them all the way through they should appear yellow. And I've heard about they turn blue when bruised, to what extent is that true..like if you squeese the stork a bit should it exibit a blueish tinge..or perhaps only the gills? and is it a definete blue or a grey or what?
peace.

Around about 6 months ago I picked a HUGE BOX FULL of mushies (in parks in and around SE sub's)... but I haven't been able to find any since..
...and I've been looking alot.. because so far mushrooms have been my best (and worse) drug experience to date (for a run-down of my trip: http://www.bluelight.ru/ubb/Forum10/HTML/002078.html)
I was under the impression that magic mushrooms were out of season, therefore the ones you have (I may be wrong.. I'm no expert) might not be magical (could be dangerous.. be careful)....
I think mushroom season in Vic is in late Autumn --> Early Winter...

I think Entropope's suggestion of buying a cultivation kit online might be a better way to go than picking wild ones, unless you're a real mushroom expert. Also remember that if you've eaten dried magic mushrooms in the past they won't bear much resemblance to the fresh ones.
