the sequel to the diary movie four weeks after the first ends.

Though Bridget is happily ensconced in the arms of the lovely Mark Darcy her petty jealousies are starting to get the best of her, and their relationship. Chief among these is her suspicions about Mark's long-legged intern, who, on top of being gorgeous, has a knack for doing everything right. To make matters worse Bridget's old fling, and former boss, Daniel Cleaver, arrives on the scene.

happily ever after?

looks pretty funny, i liked the first one
i liked hugh grant in it, maybe because he plays such a good cad being one in real life (from news on the street which may/may not be a good measure)
renee just is so a stumbling, bumblin, quirky woman- the way any woman has felt at one point or another whether around a man or in middle school

I feel indifferent about seeing this movie. I didn't like this book nearly as much as the first...

That way it's already done. Does it really bother you that much?

there is the mass release date. before that are always sneak previews, ealrier openings in certian theaters/cities for some films, stolen films off the internet, early screenings and so on.
also films like this have pre conceived notions to them- being a sequel and also from a book so some may have opinions or hopes they would like to share before the discussion fully begins or before they see the film.
oh and its pretty easy way to start a discussion, get things done early and generate interst in an upcoming film.

From the previes Ive seen, Im already disappointed. I thought the book was really quite funny, but it looks like theyve made some huge departures from the original plot (most of which i believe are to include more Hugh Grant) which may screw up the whole thing. But Colin Firth witll be in it, so that should more than compensate.

I loved the first "Bridget Jones' Diary" book and movie (though I must say I actually preferred the book). I also have "The Edge of Reason" and enjoyed the book (though not as much as the first) and I do plan on seeing this movie as well :)

I've never read the book but the first movie was great. I have watched it 30+ times and loved it every time. Hopefully the second one wont be a dissapointment!

Ok, so I have just come back from watching Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, and feel the need to discuss it, however, I do not want to give away too much of the plot.
Let me just say, if you have read the book, you may be sorely disappointed with the film. The story has been changed quite considerably, with some of the funniest parts of the book removed and replaced with many less humerous contrivances.
I assume they just wanted to have more of Hugh Grant, and as anyone who has read Bridget:EOR would no, he isn't exactly a key player in the sequel. While his character is amusing, I would have much preferred to see more of MarK Darcy, and further exploration of the relationship between him and Bridget.

It was still an enjoyable movie, but I think I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I had not read and loved the book.

Aargh, IO cant articulate well at the moment.:\

Coming from someone who hasn't read the books...

I thought the film was very enjoyable. Not mind-blowingly great, but as least as good as the first one (a lot of critics disagree however). It's a good "date" movie. Funny, romantic and has a happy ending.

There is less of the Hugh Grant's character from the first movie, which is a pitty because he brought a lot to the first movie. But enough to get a good chuckle and a sense of what a hopeless womanizer his character is.

Just saw it too . Its quite hilarious, lots of laugh moments. But i feel the first one was more precious and had a tighter script. BUT i aint complaining....;) I just cringled at those cheesy scenes in thailand, involving some singing and pseudo dancing...i wont elaborate anymore since it might be a spoiler. But anyway, yeah, i enjoyed it . :)

I was thinking that this sequel would only be a reworking of the original movie. You know, same situation with Bridget choosing between the two men, is that not the case? Looks like a bit of a rehash to me.

I liked it -- not AMAZING, but thoroughly entertaining, and better than the first one, which is always hard to do for any movie.

^ I agree, it was entirely entertaining and heartwarming at the end, as if it slammed home the message to all women that you can indeed get it right if you're just fabulously yourself. What's the quote that Bridget's dad busts out with about smoking when she's coming home from jail again?

she says something like "utterly fucked" or something like.,,,i utterly fucked up. lol

I read the book a year ago. Unless my memory is well and truely fucked up and playing horrible tricks on me.... the ending is completely different?

I still enjoyed the movie, possibly a little more than everyone else did .. because i seemed to laugh a lot more than the people around me. Not bad.

I liked the book better.

i enjoyed it. it was, very much, just a rehash of the first - but that's why i rented it.

i think renee, by far, looks best at her bridget-weight.
