Aliens vs. Predator

As some of you know, Aliens vs. Predator is coming out this August, and I'm somewhat excited about it.

Though I must say I was only a minor fan of the Dark Horse Aliens comic series, and haven't read any of the "Aliens vs. Predator" series, from the previews I think that this could actually be good, unlike Alien Resurrection, which I thought was practically vomited up on the silver screen; I don't even personally consider it part of the set.

Besides, the guy who directed Event Horizon can't do a *terrible* job, right. ;)

So, anyone other "Alien(s)" and/or "Predator" fans looking forward to it?

I am still SO terrified this movie is going to suck balls the size of the meteor that killed off the dinosaurs.
 
This can potentially be so very good and yet it might be so very bad.
 
^ indeed. the 'event horizon' connection has me hoping it will be so very good.

You ever notice the australian flag in Event Horizon? The Aboriginal flag replaces the Union Jack in the top left corner.
I thought that was a sweet prediction.:)
 
should be interesting. remember anderson has directed some shitty films too (even if you do -like myself- like event horizon). so it could really go either way (just to echo everyone else ;)).

I saw a preview of this yesterday when I went to see Dodgeball.

Is it just me, or is the idea of finding a pyramid under the polar ice cap kinda stupid? A pyramid that just happens to be filled with alien eggs... that are still alive?

I do like the idea of the humans being used as bait.
 
I think there might be more than one alien in this film, perhaps a colony. Given the reproductive advantages of a detachable ovipositor, my money is going on the aliens.
 
The trailer looked ok, but I'm not so sure the movie will be all that good in the end. I've liked the Alien films for the most part, so I am kind of looking forward to this coming out, but don't really expect too much from it.

Yeah that got me annoyed as well - seems just to dumb. Also is there a strong lead in this movie? Thats what both the Predator and Aliens series had. Its fun to root for "the good guy/girl" as opposed to "who will be picked off next".

Um no...

It's the present day and Bishop Weyland, a billionaire funds a scientific expedition to antarctica to investigate a pyramid which was discovered under an ice cap. Well upon entering they trigger a reaction in the pyramid and it seals up. Predators soon enter because they placed alien eggs in their along with a captured Queen so that ever few hundred years young predators could go there and become true hunters. Well the research team gets caught between this game of war between alien and predator all while the rooms of the pyramid are constantly changing making it difficult for anyone to escape.

I think it's a great idea...
 
The comic and PC game rocked. They better not blow it on the movie.

Anybody remember the "alien" skeleton in the trophy room on "Predator 2"? A friend and I are in a minor debate as to wether or not that's what it's supposed to be.
