What is the cutting agent that people use to cut coke with, that has the same numbing effect?

Cheers

Lidocaine is one of the known cutting thingy's.
If you lick it, you think it's really strong coke cos your tongue will be instantly numb..
[edit: that's what the dealer wants you to believe ;) ]

here's a link for some more info:

Cocaine like most stimulants losen your bowels so some people cut it with laxitives.

Could be anything from A-Z never know...... it always depends from your source/dealer to others and who you know/trust and how much money you have to offer/waste.....all I know that coke in Australian markets is often heavily cutted compared to the American market grade coke ..... from what I heard from a fellow American backpacker I met at the pub last year..... guess its all about connections as usual I suppose with anything illegal.

Don't you mean LIGNOCAINE ?

I'd say Charlie is cut with most of the the shite that whizz is...................

Same thing...

LIGNOCAINE
Generic names;
Lignocaine hydrochloride or lidocaine hydrochloride

Trade names;

Xylocaine (Astra)
Emla (Astra)
Instillagel (Cliniflex)
Laryng-o-jet (IMS)
Generic forms of Lignocaine are also available.

...

Mode of action;

Lignocaine is a local anaesthetic drug that acts by causing a reversible block to conduction along nerve fibres. It is well absorbed from mucous membranes and is therefore used as a surface anaesthetic at concentrations of 2-4%. For other modes of administration preparations of up to 1% are used

Perfect cuts for cocaine are not easily found. That is if the cocaine is to be rigorously tested for purity.

Mannitol was once considered one of the preferable cuts, but because of it's limited availability, mannitol is not often used these days. It can also be readily detected. Mannitol, if added will lower the melting point to below that of cocaine HCl.

Mannitol: M.P. = 166-168 deg C; bp 290-295°

Cocaine Hydrochloride: M.P. = MP ~195°

Cocaine freebase : M.P. 98°

Mannitol is insoluble in diethyl ether, so freebasing the salt and extracting with ether will leave any mannitol in the water layer.

Methamphetamine is also often added to cocaine in small amounts. Marquis should pick this up.

Many other cuts once frequently employed are rarely used these days. Borax was sometimes added as it ups the weight considerably. But borax is readily detectable as it melts at 75° and so will lower cocaines MP considerably.

If Lidocaine, (xylocaine etc) is used, it can be harder to detect. The solubility characteristics of both are substantially similar. Some careful temperature regulated solubility tests may indicate something other than coke is present, but there are also another couple of methods worth trying....

Lignocaine HCl will behave solubility-wise like cocaine HCl. That is; it will dissolve in water and freebase up like coke. However, the melting points of both the HCl salt and the freebase are different from those of cocaine, so if the percentage of the Xylocaine was anymore than ~2-3% then it would be expected that the melting points of cocaine would be substantially lower than normal.

Freebase Xlyocaine

mp 68-69° (cocaine 98°)

HCl monohydrate salt

mp 77-78° ( cocaine ~195°)

Another physical property variation between coke and Xylocaine could also help to identify the presence of the later.

In the freebase form, both substances crystallize from alcohol differently. Cocaine forms slate like "monoclinic tablets" and Xylocaine forms characteristic needles. Although a mixture may produce a crystalline mass, if a thin film of solution is cooled in a crystallization dish, it should be possible to identify each if sufficient Xylocaine was present.
