You'd be working with some of the finest brains in the business, but it isn't all fun and games. The newest addition to the Aus Social moderating team will need guts, stamina and spare time. You will put your heart and soul into the forum and you'll like it.

If you would like to apply for the moderator opening, please send an email to [email protected] - do not apply nor nominate people in this thread. All applications will be carefully considered. If you applied for the most recent opening, please reapply so that we know you're still interested.

The closing date for applications is January 31st 2004.

^^^ nope, they'll get it because they're the most qualified and mature person for the job. popularity has nothing to do with it (just look at me! :p).

what the hell was the point of that post? If it was a popularity contest it would be a public forum vote - you have shown you quite obviously know nothing about the workings of this forum or this site despite the amount of time you have been on here.
 
It's definitely a popularity contest. However it just so happens that the mature people who post a lot and seem to get on well with everyone tend to also be popular.

At the same time though, bluelight isn't an equal opportunity employer. Favourtism will probably be given to the people who get along well with the current mods, but I think that's perfectly justified. With no clear rank structure amoungst the mods, they have to be able to agree with each other most of the time or it'll all go to hell very quickly.

Perhaps if someone really wants the job then it'd pay to jump into IRC and get to know your potential future co-workers. Making yourself popular is the best way to win a popularity contest - and there are no rules against people trying to do that.
 
It’s not at all a popularity contest – the person who will become mod will of course have to get along with the current mods and will no doubt have to be fair and open minded – being a mod is more than closing threads and keeping things on topic, and being well liked has almost nothing to do with the decision as to who will become the next mod.
 
i'd volunteer but its been hanging out there so long now i think no-one wants it... or youre being very choosey, which would automatically rule me out!
maybe my brother eddi would be up for it.
 
it's only out there so long because we gave a long deadline - it was mainly to let raz settle in before the next person is appointed... but yeah the admins haven't done the magic key thing yet :(
