Zyprexa for sleep? Or bad idea?

Every so often I'll mix a few antihistamines to get to sleep at night but I ran out and its likely to be a late night unless I replace them with something.

I have left over zyprexa from like 6 years ago and its just sitting in my cabinet decomposing. I also have seroquel, but I hate taking seroquel otherwise even if I get to bed by 1am I will sleep till like 3-4pm. I honestly don't remember what zyprexa does for morning wake ups, but I just looked up the half life and its ridiculously long, like 48 hours or something.
What I don't understand is seroquel has a short half life (6 hours) but its impossible to wake up even after 9 hours of sleep. I use to take like 500mg and once I got tolerant waking up was easy, but even if I take just 25mg it'll sedate me but that sedating feeling tends to stick the entire next day.

Antihistamines sort of do that but not really. I'm more drowsy than sedated when I wake up and can still get out of bed. I was thinking either like 12.5mg seroquel or splitting a zyprexa in half, which would be like .5mg. Which should I go with? In terms of being able to wake up tommorow? Thanks.

As you said, once you've built tolerance to Seroquel the sedation stops carrying into the next day. At low doses I didn't find much difference in how I felt next morning. I was no more brain-fogged on 50mg than on 25mg so I'm not sure whether halving the Seroquel dose would help.

From the information I can find on Zyprexa, it's the same deal. The profound sedation tends to happen when you first start taking it and wear off as your tolerance increases. Lowest dose tablet formation of Zyprexa I can find referenced is 2.5mg.

Zyprexa seems to have become the acute psychiatric emergency drug of the 2000s - the haldol of this millenium. That would make me a bit cautious about taking it if I absolutely had to be fully functional the next day.

Good point lolie thanks. If I remember correctly they both kinda leave me in a sedated zombie state. I really doubt it would be easier to wake up on the zyprexa since I have no tolerance to it. I took 12.5mg of seroquel like an hour ago and didn't feel anything. Took 12.5 more 15mins ago and that was the "sweet spot", so now I'm tired (well its really just kicking in).
I absolutely hate waking up the morning after seroquel but I figured my alternative was not falling asleep till 4-5, and sleeping late anyways. Alrighty nighty night fellow BLers!
