Pharmacology Zosurabalpin - Any thoughts?

This thread contains discussion about a Pharmacology-related topic
I think it's always cool to see antibiotic research, it is often underfunded, and it is rare for new mechanisms of action to be discovered. The Nature paper (open access) that covered the development of the drug is a pretty good glimpse of rational antibiotic discovery.

I do wonder if it can kill other bacterial types than the actinobacter species it was developed against. Lipopolysaccharide is a pretty conserved molecule in a lot of gram negative bacteria so there may be other targets (though that really depends on how well the LPS transporters are conserved between species).

It's certainly better than the standard of care currently, the polymyxin antibiotics, which are pretty toxic when used internally.

This drug still needs to go through human trials, so the biggest hurdles are still ahead of it.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about it.
