Simply, give me your 5 favorite college football teams, if you don't have 5 then just give me your favorites, and of course a reason why...
I'll start it.
1. Ohio State This is where I was born and raised, my brother went to college here, and they usually win, so it makes it easy to root for them. But most important reason is obviously because I am an Ohioan.
2. Indiana Both of my parents are IU alumni, and I went to so many I.U games as a child they will always have a spot in my heart. I always pull for them unless they are playing OSU, and since they consistently suck, it gives me a classic underdog to root for.
3. UCLA I lived in L.A for about 2 1/2 years, and I can't stand USC, so I decided to root for the Bruins. I went to a few games there, the tickets were dirt cheap thru scalpers, and I enjoyed the scenery around me. My only issue with UCLA is I think they should play their games on their campus, not 45 minutes away, but at the same time I get that UCLA and the Rose Bowl go hand in hand. Although I think if they had a stadium on their campus more people would go.
4. Northwestern I like the fact they play in the Big 10. And I guess it's not so much that I like Northwestern, but the fact the play in Evanston, a suburb of Chicago. It is the Buckeye road trip game I look forward to most. There is nothing like taking the L Train from downtown Chicago to Evanston with a train full of Buckeye fans. It doesn't exactly have a typical "college gameday" feel to it, but that is what makes it so cool. It's not the norm. And there are so many great places to eat in Chicago! Best Pizza Anywhere!
I remember in 2008 the game was at 11:00 am local time. And the L train going to Evanston was completely filled with Buckeye fans. There were joints and booze being passed around, and the look on unsuspecting Chicagoans faces when they got on the L train was priceless. I don't think they were expecting at 10:00 am to see a full L train stuffed with rabid football fans at all.
5. Whoever is playing Florida and USC. No really, I guess if I had to pick a 5th team it'd be Idaho. For some reason, I have always been intrigued by the little tiny schools and teams with puny stadiums. Idaho plays in a place called the Kibby Dome, which strongly resembles a giant warehouse with seats put in. I always enjoy using them on NCAA Football games, and the fact there stadium holds less for football then OHio States basketball arena holds for B-Ball, I guess the smallness and isolation of Idaho U fascinates me.
Plus, they might have the coolest nickname in D1 football, the VANDALS!
