Im listening to Les Claypools Frog Brigade do Floyd's Animals and I almost think its better than the original, anyone else have any good covers of songs/albums that rival the original?

The Les Claypool cover of Animals is up there, the Dream Theater cover of Dark Side of The Moon is also really really good. Also, Primus' cover of "Have a Cigar".

And that's just covers of Pink Floyd songs, I can't even start to think about everything else haha

ween does awesome covers..they did bowie last time i saw them-oh and another one i just thought of is cee-lo doing radioheads reckoner

Great thread! I think it's pretty rare to find a cover that you can enjoy as much as an original.
Love The Smiths, and I know there may be some die-hard Morrissey fans that might disagree; but I really like Quicksand's take on "How soon is now?". This song has been covered (badly) many times but I think this version does the original justice while bringing a fresh interpretation.
