5 months of moderate xanax use with the last month being the heaviest use period still not everyday and varied from 1 mg to .5 mg only once at night for sleep. It's been 5 days since a cold turkey stop first day was the worst and symptoms are getting better but very slowly biggest complaint is vertigo. How long can I expect this vertigo?

Can you describe the vertigo? Does the world spin? Do you have trouble walking straight?

All I can suggest is over the counter products for nausea if it's present, and time. It's really hard to estimate how long it's gonna last as it depends on many factors, but it WILL eventually get better.

Good luck with your recovery :)

Ok so maybe it isn't vertigo it's mental cloudiness. Like walking thru walmart and having to turn and look at everything is a mental strain hard to focus on stuff. But I was able to race a go kart going 50+ mph and beat everyone on the track with no problem. I am dizzy when I turn my head. It really hard to describe but no the world is not spinning if I'm just sitting still only when I look around. What would this be called? I'll throw out I did do mdma for the first time a week before I stopped the xanax. I'm ccurrently taking 100mg of 5htp 3 times a day and gaba taurine and benadryl for ssleep at night.

I think it is cloudiness indeed. And it could be from the benadryl. I know from personal experience that anticholinergics can cause brain fog.

You can replace the benadryl with melatonin if you need to.

I withdrew from xanax once. It was horrible. I had at least two bad panic attacks before it abated. It took about two weeks before I felt better.
