Hello all,

If one would take a little dose of xanax (alprazolam) or klonopion (clonazepam) and is planning to go out and drink a few hours later, which of the two will make you less sedated?

Im going out tonight and I don't wanna be all groggy nor embarrass myself acting stupid. Be in mind that theres a space of 5-6 hours of taking the benzos and start drinking. Also I only drink vodka red bulls, so that will definitely make more alert.

Thanks a lot

Xanax, only because more of it will be out of your system by the time you will be out drinking. I find it to be more sedating that klonopin, but if you are used to it and/or several hours have passed you are not likely to get knocked out from the dose.

Both are only mildly sedating benzos, but no matter which one you choose to mix with alcohol you risk blacking out. Whenever a benzo, particularly hypnotics, is mixed with alcohol it usually ends up in a blackout unless of course you're taking a small alprazolam or clonazepam dose of 0.5-1 mg and having only a "couple" of beers.

Essentially, they're about the same. I'd say Xanax is a tiny bit more sedating than Klonopin, but the difference is negligible.
