There seems to be controversy regarding whether:

Alprazolam 1mg = Valium 10mg

vs.

Alprazolam 1mg = Valium 20mg

What have you found the correct answer to be in your experience please?

-AND-

I would like to see others schedules for the crossover from Xanax (alprazolam) to Valium (diazepam) please before I get started.

I have 20+ years of Xanax (alprazolam) use at PRN to 4mg per day and have moderate tolerance and interdose withdrawal.

I am currently at 1.5-2.5mg per day in 0.5mg doses.

Your experiences, observations, and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

I have noticed different charts say different things a well, for me I always found a 2mg alprazolam bar to be stronger than 20mg of diazepam but certainly weaker than 40mg, I guess it is probably somewhere in the middle. I find that 1mg of alprazolam is probably equal to somewhere between 12.5-15mg of diazepam personally.

For certain I find that branded Xanax and Gador Alplax 2mg are at least as strong as 40mg diazepam. 1mg Xanax, Ksalol and Alplax are certainly equivalent to at least 20mg diazepam.
The same can not be said of other brands and generics, many of which, in particular the awful Sandoz GG248 & 249 tabs, are a lot weaker subjectively. But if you are using the finest brands as noted above you will find that the equivalence table as found at benzo.org.uk, which also includes the Ashton Manual, is correct in its listing that alprazolam 0.5mg is equal to 10mg diazepam, without a doubt.
