Benzos Xanax (alprazolam) and bed-wetting?

I'm prescribed 2mg of Xanax a day for anxiety. I was feeling really depressed and stressed out last night and ended up taking 4mg at once and promptly passed out. I woke up at about 2am and realized that I had started pissing myself. This is the second time this has happened after taking 4mg of Xanax late in the evening; it's never happened to me when I haven't taken it or have taken a lower dose.

Does this sound like something I should bring up with my doctor or am I just being a hypochondriac? I'm worried that I may actually have something wrong with my bladder. I really don't want my prescription taken away; I have an anxiety disorder, and Xanax is the only thing that helps.

Is loss of bladder control something that can happen with Xanax usage?

For future reference, don't use SWIM in bluelight.

With regards to incontinence whilst under the influence of benzos like xanax, they do relax your muscles...It would follow that they relax your sphincters as well. If I were you, I'd be more concerned with the fact that you're passing out. Lower your dose so that you don't pass out, and you should remain in full control of your bladder.
 
Well I wouldn't see much point in going to your doctor as it only occurs when taking more than your recommended dose, they are just going to tell you that you shouldn't be taking more than your recommended dose... and like JSPete^ said if your passing out then thats probably not a good thing. I would consider lowering your dose.
 
I've heard of it before, but it's not super common in my experience.
Just try and stay away from more than your usual dose for a while and allow your body to adjust to the Xan.
Since it can cause loss of coordination and muscle control, you probably had that happen to you because you just took too high of a dose and your body couldn't handle that much of it.
After a tolerance is built though, 4mg can be taken safely, but I wouldn't recommend more than that.
Benzo's are proof that big things come in small packages.
