Hey guys I just wanted to put this out there. I think writing every day is such an important thing to do. Well for me anyway I've been only doing it for the past month but so far I've felt so much more focused just by expressing my ideas into a concrete form. It helps me with direction, making decisions and staying committed to them (because I constantly re-read what I've written) and it gives me something to look forward to every day, like an outlet. I got the idea off someone else when they decided to start their own daily email to friends, so I started my own blog. It's really helped me a lot.

Who else writes every day. Do you find it keeps you much more focused?

I keep a health/fitness journal, into which I put all of my workouts, my diet, supplement/vitamin intake, and various notes about how my body feels, what things were easy/hard that day, various-range goals, and so on. It's a really nice leather-bound Celtic book too, which I try to take care of as best as I can for future's sake.

One thing that I have found useful in the past, though I am not doing now, is a dream diary. This actually works, but it's hard to really describe what it does. You just gotta try it.

I also am an avid traveler and make a new travel journal each trip, which is a mix really of scrap-booking, practical stuff and reflections.

As for regular journaling, I do that too. I love Moleskine notebooks and have a stack of them I've filled over the years. I wouldn't say it's necessarily about being more focused, but it definitely helps me feel more alive, and it also works effectively as an antidepressant.
