I shot oxycontin for the second time yesterday, I don't think i missed because i registered fine and came up instantly.

The injection site is now slightly redder and is sore to the touch. This has never happened before when I have IVed heroin or coke (even when i completley missed), or even the first time I shot up OC. There also appears to be swelling but it is minimal. the area is harder than normal too. Should I be worried or is this normal for IVing pills? I'll be honest, I didn't bother with a micron filter and used a cotton instead.

That doesn't sound like an abces yet. It does sound like theres some sort of irritation or inflamation. Id just keep an eye on it for a few days and dont shoot in that spot anymore. It will probley reduce in swelling on its own if you dont shoot in that area.......you defiently want to take care not to miss when using pills like that.

i agree with thug. ive missed some oxy shots and they have been red and sour for a day or so. if the redness spreads and the swelling increses seek medical attention.

It could be any number of things. If you have any doubts, see a doctor.

Always micron filter your shots. Not only do the binders and fillers cumulatively collect in your lungs, but you can get blood, heart, and other organ infections from non-sterile injections (microns are so small they filter bacteria (but not viruses) out.)

Sounds like you may have sliped out at the end and missed a tiny ammount..should clear up in a few days but if it gets worse see a doc.

Like others have said, you should be fine. I've had a lot of red swollen worrysome marks that had me in a panic for a few days, but I always ended up ok. That said, if it ever starts to get WORSE, you need to do something about it. I never had a miss/irritated shot get worse over time, and I've never had an abcess.
