Recently I've been have reoccurring dreams ( more like nightmares ) where I am dope sick. I found this incredibly strange because I havnt been dopesick in a long time, ever since strying the methadone program I've been on the straight and narrow. About 5 months since I've taken any illegal or drugs or abused my perscription. I'm way over having dreams about using, or trying to use.. And I'm not even trying to get well in these dreams... I'm just walking around, or rather rolling around in full blown heroin withdrawl. It feels soooo real. I have to wake myself up and like sit up and reassure myself I'm not in withdrawl. WTF is going on?!? No one I've spoken to about this has had a similar experience, my counseler suggested it might be a subconscious reaction to a fear of heroin withdrawl, along the lines of PTSD? But that seems a little extreme.. Plus I can't think of anything that really triggered the start of these dreams. Has anyone had a similar experience or any ideas how I can make them stop?

If your body wants to use and you've been physically dependent in the past, you'll have using dreams, just the way it is. You may be able to forget mentally, but your body still remembers the high...

Had these a lot when I was in jail and when I first got on subs. Now after bein on subs for a while I just dream about sex every night or some dramatic save a beautiful girl from danger and get laid fantasy... Can't wait to go to sleep tonight and see what's in store haha...

The thing is they're not using dreams. I'm used to those. I had one like every night other times I have gotten clean, or other times early on in my maintinance programs. These stopped for me about 3-4 months ago.

They're not about getting high, or even craving drugs. Just about the physical sickness

My methadone pretty must completly stops my cravings, so much that I'm capable of being around people who are using and having very little desire to do so myself. I have a pretty constant level of opiated ( sythetic, but it does the job ) in my system. really don't think they stem from me wanting to use heroin or feel high

Yeah, living in the land of Methadonia is great in that sense... But in the end you pay the ultimate price.

your subconcious mind is trying to give you a message i bealive

I get them sometimes when I dream toward the morning. Like if I wake up around 4-5 am and use the bathroom and go back to sleep. I normally get up about 630 am and go to the clinic (on days I don't have carries). I tend to not feel 100% when I wake up. Not dope sick but definitely not completely well. I always attributed the dreams to my body knowing the methadone was wearing off. Kind of like the dope dreams when you are sick and seek dope in your dreams.

That's why I think I get them. Although sometimes in my dream when I don't feel well I'm also trying to get dosed and it never goes right. Kinda pathetic--like the methadone equivalent of dope dreams. Although the funny part is I never have heroin dreams anymore. Now even in my dream I seek the methadone. Haha guess that's when you know you made a change in your thinking

Maybe subconsciously your body also feels the methadone level drop (pH drops when you sleep; this the methadone level does as well) and that's why you are sick in the dreams, your body knows it's coming (if you didn't get dosed)

on the subject of dreams.......ive dreamed i was rollin balls a few nights then wake up to reality... aint touched MDMA in years....badass dream though:)

Yeah, I've had a lot of nightmares about my family confronting me or I'm running around finding drugs around me (usually when I'm not using). I think you dream about what you fear or desire. But it's no fun either way. Ugh just thinking about it makes me feel sick.

Sorry you're experiencing these dreams, but great job staying clean!
