hi everyone I am rx'd methadone and recently because of the newlaws in florida I had to change dr,'s and this new Dr lowered my dose from 210 to 120 and I take the methadone not only for pain but it has gotten me off a serious addiction to oxy,s now not only am I out and in a lot of pain I am withdrawing bad and almost to the point of doing other drugs to ease the wd symptoms any advice??

If you think going from 210 to 120 was bad, wait until you go from 120 to 0. I truly feel sorry for you man. I know PM docs here will NOT write scripts early. How many days until you get your next scrip? What is available to you, at a reasonable cost? If you have to go cold turkey then your in for a rough ride, however if you go thru that you are probably less likely to run out early next time.
If you cant get other drugs to stave off w/d, then I recommend a lot of motrin pm (good shit for an OTC med) plenty of fluids, and keep about half a dozen beach towels next to your bed so when you wake up in a pool of sweat you can dry off quickly. I've gone thru half a dozen in one night; the next morning there was probably 15lbs of sopping wet towels at the foot of the bed.

Yeah that doctor is a dick. No clinic or good doc would drop your dose by over 40% just like that... find somebody better or go to a clinic.

Exactly my thought. Even if your addicted a reasponsible doctor should KNOW that isj ust an insane ammount to drop someone. I would've called him out on it but I feel ya pain.

It might be a good time to transition to subs, if you're looking to get off altogether. But it sounds like you might really need high dose opiates for pain management.
If your refill is coming up soon and you can get street meds to go the few days needed to stave of WDs, then that's a possibility.
If you are unable to get some heroin or pills and are going to have to go through WDs, then read up on what you'll need:

Unfortunately, at such a high dosage of methadone, transitioning to subs would not work, nor would it begin to even touch the pain. On top of that, dosages above 60mg of methadone will block the effects of other opiates/opioids..
I suppose the best thing to do would be to Try and bite the bullet and taper down rather rapidly until you're at a dosage where you can use other pain medications for breakthrough pain, but I can't even begin to imagine the ammount of will power it would take to put yourself through withdrawal and legitimate physical pain to accomplish this.
Your best course of action like others have said, is to see another doctor or join a clinic, as I don't see any other alternative

Terrible Doctor. Doctors are supposed to be sworn to healing and providing treatment regardless of the situation.
Anyway, I currently take 120 mg of methadone a day and am able to use heroin effectively. In order to be effective I usually wait at least 18 hrs before using heroin though. So at 120 mg of methadone if you need something else to deal with breakthrough pain then dont take any methadone for a bit and grab yourself some supplies as your in for a wild ride.

I am on methadone for pain however I was
Highly addicted to oxycodone for years and have been able to reduce my oxycodone intake from 8-12 pills a day to 2-3 with the help of a very good Dr that put me on methadone for pain and as he raised it he lowered the oxycodone now I have managed my pain very well until florida made it hard to fill a prescription unless your Dr is in the same county and the county I live in only has one pain management Dr he dropped everyone from what they were on to 120 he refuses to write for more than that yet. when he dropped my methadone he failed to raise my oxycodone
