Winding down at the end of the day

So I am getting my wisdom teeth out Friday, and since I'd have to quit smoking weed for a good week, and a day prior, I figured I'd quit earlier to get a head start on the slight "withdrawal" effect I experience. I also figured that this forced tolerance break will be a good way to start rethinking my cannabis use and cutting down from my prior daily use. After day one, I've realized I used marijuana for relaxation; I just have so much built up inside of me from the whole day and cannabis was my way of letting it all out. What are some good healthy ways of unwinding at the end of the day? Share some of your experiences in small little end of the day hobbies/relaxation methods that have helped you relax or stay sober? I really plan to put quitting into gear and I've realized this is one of the main problems I experience with quitting weed.

Hope the teeth come out without issues. Many years ago when i had mine out, i just smoked bong hits thru my nose :-)

i had all my wisdom teeth taken out in the last few months, i started smoking cigs about an hour after the surgery each time lol. Just don't suck too hard, some people seem more prone to dry socket than others tho but a week is just too long. The pain meds are usually more than enough to wind down but i assume you aren't opting for those kinds of meds if you're posting in here.

as far as winding down, i watch tv, play video games, play guitar, work on/modify electronics, basically just enjoy my hobbies, read BL. I don't smoke cannabis anymore, never really felt it relaxed me. Sometimes i take a short nap, eat a decent meal and just do nothing.

Hah the wisdom teeth are important, whether I CAN smoke or not is irrelevant since I am abstaining my choice. But thank you.

Its Just that I always have anxiety built up the whole day and I feel like I always need to release it. Any other ideas?

Meditation, working outside or in the garden, exercise either lifting or cardio but not so late that it keeps me awake, drinking Chamomile tea, rooibos herb or red "tea" steeped for 10 mins, going for a walk, taking a hot or lukewarm shower, reading, listening to relaxing/calm instrumental music, playing a musical instrument, writing, making artwork, cooking, petting my cat, and maybe watching TV or a movie.

Really good suggestions above me... also having a space that is free of stressful triggers.. so if you are going to wind down in your bedroom then make sure it is free of a computer, papers from work, to do lists, unfinished products, background noise that is not conducive to relaxation, it also helps if the space is clean and clutter free, something about clutter causing stress.. and probably free of smoking gear otherwise.. and maybe pick a spot that you didn't fire up all the time.. But i really do suggest the meditation.. I am able to get all the relaxation out of meditation that I ever got out of grass, and it doesn't come with a hampered mind.. just takes a little practice.

+1 on meditation, it really does do wonders!

Most nights I read a few pages too. I usually read multiple books at a time and pick the one that interests me the least to read before bed and I can't keep my eyes open if it's boring enough. ;)

There are tons of herbs and supplements that don't cause nearly as drastic of a head change as cannabis, but are still powerful enough to wind down with. Theanine, skullcap, chamomile, magnesium, gaba, lavender, tulsi, melatonin, kava (low dose) and valerian root are all great in my book. My baseline sobriety is plants and supplements that are not any more powerful than coffee.
