Thanks in Advance.

I've heard conflicting responses about this. Some say Kratom will generate a false positive and others say it will not. It hits the mu-opioid receptors so I would think the metabolites generated would be similar to morphine but I would like an informed answer.

Thanks! Me and others need to know (probation!)

I don't think technically it would give a "false positive'. If the test is testing for opiates, then it would be a real positive.

Most people don't realize this, but the alkaloids in kratom are OPIATES

no, they are psuedo-opiates. they act on the same receptors, but they are not the same. dont know about the false-positive, but i wouldnt think so

chem compare of mytragline, the active substance in kratom, and morphine

Some people on probation must know. I know that technically you shouldn't get in trouble for taking kratom because it is not tested for, but it's metabolites I would think could generate a false positive -- which is a big inconvenience. Anyone know?

I know guys taking K2 and K3 that are tested for and have absolutely no problem passing Nida-5, even though it hits cannabis receptors.

This is why I am confused about whether or not kratom's metabolites will give a positive result for opiates.

Damn I hate probation.

i would say that, because they are completely different substances, no, you shouldnt have a problem. there is no evidence that the substances degrade into anything resembling a morphine analog

Im on probation and if i can find a way to get Kratom not off the internet (credit card maxxed out), then i will ingest it and report back after drug test....... i doubt it would show up personally

It doesn't show up on drug tests.

I have to take one tomorrow. The Nida-5 for probation. UEI kratom rocks my world. Totally euphoric... I HOPE!!! it doesn't show up cuz I've been feeling mighty good lately. I guess I will let you guys know what happens.

Anyone wanna place a bet? 5 to 4 odds that it doesn't show up

It won't show up, because kratom and kratom alkaloids are not opium or opium alkaloids.

The NIDA 5 test tests for presence of morphine-like alkaloids and metabolites thereof. Kratom contains no opiates with structures similar to morphine, ergo, will not test positive for morphine, heroin, codeine etc. with the standard tests. Just because it affects the same receptors doesn't mean it's the same thing.
