I have a weird twitch, it happens about 10-100 times a day since as long as I can remember. my whole body spasms as if an electrical current is suddenly blasted into me, but It doesn't hurt at all. My brother has a similar thing going on, but his is more severe, and lasts a couple seconds longer usually. Mine lasts about 1-2 seconds, his lasts about 2-4 seconds.
I'm autistic, and We were both prescribed ritalin at around 6 and 8 years old
I've never had a doctor tell me why this happens, maybe because its benign.
Any ideas why this happens?

There could be hundreds of different reasons for this, we'd need more information, and even then, none of us are doctors so we'd just be speculating.
Does it bother you at all? Or are you just curious about it?

just curious, I know you can't give me a definitive answer, I just wanted people to give me their best guess.

It doesn't hurt or anything

I believe this would be called a hypnic jerk. I get them sometime too. I can't remember the cause of it at the moment, but I don't think it's harmful.

Does it happen as you're falling asleep? I was just reading about it, and hypnic jerks are specifically when you're falling asleep. So I'm not sure about your twitches.

Also electrolytes imbalance can cause them. I get them when I’m low a lot. Might be something to look into.

Could also be lack of sleep, too much caffeine, too much stress, anxiety, any number of things and possibly a combination of many different things.
