Why isn't there a sub forum for "Alcohol"

I think it deserves it's own sub forum similar to Cannabis and Psychedelic forums.

We all know how potent alcohol is...

I agree, but

Edit: well never mind that thread got deleted apparently,

But I guess its because there is a lot of information already out there on alcohol because its been able to be documented medically much more easily than substances/chemicals that were deemed illegal. I don't know like what do you really want to talk about on alcohol? There's megathreads and such and its in other drugs, like if anything there should be a heroin forum before alcohol to clear things a bit in OD but it belongs in there for heaps of other reasons that apply differently so I guess to compare is a bit unfair. (<--- homeslicefreshlyrics there!

The poll says 72% Yes split it off but that just makes my whole argument invalid.

Take from this what you will. 8)

IMO, there's just not enough material on Alcohol to warrant it's own sub-forum. Particularly if Opioid discussion can't get it's own sub-forum.

The only harm reduction advise you need for alcohol is never drive, fight or get married while drunk.

...or post on BL.

Seems like a great idea to me, alcohol being one of the most widely abused drugs. Seems odd for it not to have it's own forum. Lots of people would frequent it Im pretty sure.

But there's loads of things I dont get about BL, like why they let so many inept people run forums and why they dont update the twitter feed with more info (there's so much they could post from here), why certain areas are let to go savage and why certain areas do not have video tags and others do.

Not my place to tell them how to run it, but BL reminds me of Chicago, let go and run down and no one giving much of a fuck about it anymore. Sadly. Has so much potential, but not much seems to be happening with it at all.

thanks for your message.

so many? that is a lot. 10 inept people? 20 inept people? can you post the names of the staff members you feel are inept along with a few examples, in each case, of poor moderation and we'll take a look. if you're comfortable criticising people publicly but you are uncomfortable following up with names publicly, then drop me a list privately and we'll take a look.

there's a mechanism from bringing (what you consider to be) poor moderation to the attention of the staff - the report button. you have reported a few posts but they're mostly spam reports. if you're seeing such widespread ineptitude on bluelight, why aren't you reporting it?
and why they dont update the twitter feed with more info (there's so much they could post from here)
we're staffed entirely by volunteers so time is a resource in short supply. there are many, many things we can do better and taking advantage of social media is just one of them.

again, if you're seeing stuff on bluelight which you feel we could highlight using social media channels, report the posts with a brief message like "this should go on twitter" and we'll take a look.
why certain areas are let to go savage
can you expand? i don't like to assume but perhaps you're talking about the lounge? there's a broad spectrum of forums at bluelight. what's appropriate in pd is not appropriate in cd. what's appropriate in ce&p is not appropriate in tds. what's inappropriate everywhere ends up, for the most part, in the lounge. there are many people who don't get the lounge. that's fine. we're a diverse community.

if you see something in the lounge (or any other forum) which you feel is problematic, report it. if you don't like the lounge then get involved and make it better or avoid it. it's entirely up to you.
why certain areas do not have video tags and others do.
see the previous answer. embedded video slows down the rendering of pages. it makes sense in some forums, less sense in others. is there a forum that you feel should support the tag? then tell us what it is and we'll consider adding it.

the embedded video feature was added at the request of the community. we tested it in a few forums then extended it to more forums. forums have been added since. it's quite possible and very straightforward.
Not my place to tell them how to run it
but you'll do it anyway? :) seriously, bluelight is a community and it's evolved to where it is today as a community.

again, thanks for the feedback.
