Why GHB if u can GBL?

Why some people order GHB kits instead of using plain GBL ??? I mean, when it comes to cleaning computer parts it does the job as well ;-)
The one difference I noticed, GBL has more of a time-released peak experience due to liver metabolism?
I must admit I like the "hit by a train" onset of GHB more, but are there any other reaons to prefer GHB over GBL?

GHB kits are WAY overpriced. For about 4 times the cost of just ordering GBL, you get some drain cleaner and sometimes pH papers with the kit. I fyou have good measurements pH papers aren't needed. And Red devil lye is fine for a NaOH source...cheap too.

because they say that GBL converts to GHB in your stomach, but how accurate is that, and if you've ever seen the reaction than you sure as hell don't want that taking place in your stomach.
i don't beleive there is really any research saying GBL is non-toxic, but plenty on GHB. why risk it when it is so easy to convert? plus, GHB feels cleaner to me, GBL fucks up my stomach more and feels dirty.

i like GHB much better than GBL..GBL takes longer to "kick in" than GHB,and the high isnt as CLEAN as GHB's...also,when im "coming down" from GBL,my stomach is hurting,i feel very lethargic,tires,nauseated,and just overall SHITTY...the come down from GHB isnt near as bad,as alll i usually get is a little tired and unmotivated...
damn,i wish i would have stocked up on the GOOD OLE ONE CAP GHB that used to be around my area..

Quicker onset, cleaner high, and better taste. If you think GHB tastes nasty, it's delicious compared to GBL.

Does GBL goto GHB in the body? I've heard this many many times but I cant find anything credible that supports this. It definately doesn't happen in the stomach. You stomach is 5% HCl. HCl + GBL doesnt yeild NaGHB. If it does happen somewhere in the body it would have to happen somewehre else.

funny, I get a slower onset with GHB, the comeup is more gradually incremented over 15 minutes while with GBL and 1,4BD it takes place in less than 5 minutes...
the high is cleaner tho!

freebase- i too have heard the same thing a million times, but have not found any real research on it, and don't know how it is really possible at all. how could a reaction like that take place in you're stomach? your stomach has mostly acid in it, obviously - "stomach acid". there wouldn't be anything basic enough, such as NaOH, to even be present in your stomach, at least i wouldn't think so.
why would you take GBL when the conversion to GHB is so simple and the effects are PROVEN to be non-toxic?

As I recall, GBL in strong stomach acid becomes GHB-, not the salt. The strong acid breaks the lactone ring and ionizes the GHB, but does not drive it to the salt. It is not the same mechanism, since in the presence of H+ as the dominant cation prevents any salt formation. Once the lactone ring is broken, GHB diffuses into the tissues and works it's magic. This is also what happens to GHB salt when it hits HCl, so they are essentially the same. The only difference is that, since it takes longer to break the lactone ring than to disassociate the salt, the effects come on a little later. Stomach complaints are probably due to the conversion, breaking the lactone will still be exothermic, though dilution of GBL in a large amount of fluid, followed by another large volume of fluid minimizes these effects for most. There is no evidence of active metabolism of GBL by the liver, though it does metabolize 1,4 BDO, because it is an alcohol that needs a carboxyl group to be metabolized, while GHB already has one. Perhaps I have missed the references, and if I have someone please let me know where this has been demonstrated.
