so i have been a smoker for about a year and a half and im deciding to quit for a while. i have noticed i have lost weight (around 10 pounds?) and i eat all the time, unlike when i smoked and didnt eat much.. i get very hungry too, its very weird. i eat like 5 times a day and i lose weight! when i smoked and i would eat 1-2 times a day i would gain weight. someone explain lol

Are you more active? When I get high I just sit in one spot. I find it much easier to burn calories sober.

yes i have been working out, but i still do everything i did when i smoked. i wouldnt just sit in one spot when i smoked. i worked this summer on roofs and i would get a workout everyday but still gain weight. now that i have stopped though, i am losing it. i dont understand! my friend told me its my metabolism speeding up? and someone told me it happened to him to, and then the weight caught up to him again after a while. i have only been off it for 9 days so far

Eating more frequently actually speeds up your metabolism... Eating once or twice a day slows down your metabolism. And if you didn't eat enough, your body may have been in starvation mode (happens when ya go below 1400 calories a day). Now since you're eating more, more frequently, your body doesn't have to hold onto every calorie you put in it.

addictivepersona had the best answer so far. for me, when i kinda quit weed it severely reduced my appetite and i lost like 15 lbs. then it leveled off after a few months and i gained back the weight.

i know, totally useless for your situation :) just my 2c

many people do lose weight after smoking.... most people also eat less when they stop smoking, and generally start eating healthier things than average munchie foods....

I weigh 130lbs eating way too much fast food.....my metabolism burns callories like gas to a fire....

Did anyone else "lol" when they saw the name of this thread?

I lost about 30 pounds after I stopped smoking pot regularly. I had however, fallen into some very unhealthy habits like eating munchies all the time when I was smoking.

1- You eat less, you are eating more healthy and you stopped eating fast food.
Without the weed in the equation I'd say you'd still lose some pounds doing that.

But weed alters your metabolism and your glucose levels. I do believe that eating normal starches and such get converted into energy more readily when under the influence of pot, but in turn fat lipids and trans-fats are less readily digested and broken down / and are stored in your body.

Weed also changes your immune system making you less susceptible to some diseases and bacteria and more susceptible to some others.

I'm the opposite, I stop toking, gain weight and eat less!!!! gonna be a right hippo if I carry on at this rate. :(
