Who are you accompanied by when you go out? Who do you go partying with? Who do you take drugs with? (hypothetical question obviously ;) )
There are a few smaller groups of friends within bluelight (call them cliques if you will, DFC, TKK, HDP, TTC, ETC...)... Are you a part of one? Do you give a shit if you're not?
Do you go out by yourself or are you always with your friends?
I used to go out by myself quite a bit, now I don't get the chance, there's always at least one bluelighter going where ever I want to go... My main group of friends is those guys and girls collectively known as the DFC (not all bluelighters... Infact at least half aren't), but they're not just a clique, they're a hella awesome group of good friends, most of them really close friends too... Most of my time is spent with them, usually with a few other people around too...
Aside from the DFC I quite often end up hanging out and partying with a few members of one of the other groups...
I'd be interested what people think of the group mentality as well... For me and most of my friends, being part of the group is special, because we're all pretty close... the DFC is just a handy way of naming all of us... So if someone asks what I did on the weekend and who I was with, rather than listing everyone I can just say I was with the DFC (or HDP or TKK etc...)

well theres this thing called alcoholics anonymous...... ;)
*reconsiders serious post*
hmm well dont really have a 'crew'.. nor am i part of one.. or identify with one. i think 'crew's as such are fairly fake, or maybe i just dont understand them.
having friends is special.
having real friends is special.
ive been fairly independent for as long as i can remember and a few years ago when i first started partying i didnt have many close friends who were up for partying (they all had their reasons) and so also being male made it easier to be often out by myself - i was that dedicated to having a good time! i met some bizarre types of people along the way and for a fair while now ive been kinda floating between different groups of friends but in the end its all good and you can usually work out before too long who it is that really respects you and isnt just some guy/girl you know that has their own agenda to follow in expense of you or anyone else..
going out for some people is about meeting new people and making new friends.. for others its about spending time with the people they know. for me its kinda both but more towards the latter.

*Proud member of TKK* (and unashamedly un-official member of the DFC ;) hehe.)
While i'm on a roll, i have been hanging out a lot with the HDP lately as well. um, seeing as tho one of them is my boyfriend, they're kinda hard to avoid! (damn that warehouse!) ;)
But my 'crew' usually consists of about 4 or 5 people (*sigh* yes, bluelighters mainly), give or take 3-4 depending on how big a night it is. You know who you are... you lucky, lucky people! ;)
But i luv it when the TKK, DFC, HDP etc all get together, as well as those beloved randoms, and all chill and party as one WHOLE crew. The more the merrier! (eg: KRYAL!)
However, smaller groups, such as at Escape from Samsara last w/end, when there was only four of us... that was mega phun too. It makes the night, like, a 'closer' experiance. You get to know people better that way too becasue ur not constantly moving from group to group, as what sometimes happens when there's heaps of mates around.
I luv my crew to bits. *Mega goup huggles* There's no way i'd eva want to go to a party by myself if anyone from the above mentioned groups are also going. You're all so fucking fun. (PLUR!!! > Doh!)
Now look what you've done Tars! thanx a lot. i WAS trying to join everyone in becoming jaded, but alas... my fucked up PLURyness has shown through, as has the luv of my mates. :D

most of the dudes i hang with are from my old high school, but its always nice bumping into different d00des at parties.
I think the mentality of belonging to a crew can be good... it can also be weird.
The way I see it.. i dont BELONG to any crew, but enjoy hanging with some ppl. I think crews can be cliquey at times, and i'm often told some people feel uncomfortable when all the dudes i hang with are in our element (i guess it could appear to be intimidating *lol*)
SO yeh... i reckon if u can hang with cool ppl, no pretences, then sweet. I personally don't place a great deal of importance to belonging to a crew with a name and a bunch of little bracelets and stuff. I hang with cool dudes... thats about as far as I would go :)
b0 s3Lect0r!

um being from sydney an all, your 'krews' mean dick all to me tarsy. but does DFC mean drug-fuct-childs?? ;)
the forming of semi-official crews can lead to unforseen side effects. by semi-official i mean actually referring to you and your friends as a krew, so people outside get the impression that such a krew exists. i dont just mean using the word to save time. eg. "who was there?" "ahh the whole krew man."
you can get competition for status within members of the krew. this sux.
you can alienate outsiders because they think all the krew members have earned their place in the krew. therefore missing out on chilling with some potentially hilarious randoms. this sux.
you can get clingers. people with low sense of belonging who think that they can become part of a krew merely by mimicking the behaviour and attending all the same events as the krew. this sux.
a krew after being formed for a while may start to breed feelings of superiority within its walls. this sux because it can cause less self assured people to feel low. and also because its a good idea to keep your head on the ground.
... just some observations about krewish situations.
on the other hand it can instill a wonderful sense of belonging in all and make for some phat, phunny weekends.
tony :)
T.F.S.R.K. (Tony For Supreme Ruler Krew), the realest krew around peeps.

Im an HDPer thru and thru - I dont know what Id do without those crazy lot of ppl!!!!!!!
*hugglz them all to death with fluff, plur and khandi*
Been partying with this crew for a while - we have our helmet, our bulbarator........ and some CrazY individuals!!!!! what more can u ask for?!?!
Part of TKK also......
And *GIRLCORE* *shuffles around with GC crew*
we are gonna rawk ur worlds pplz!

our group of friends is largely known as the burnside crew because we all went to the same school.
Then theres the old annie street crew
and the west end crew
and the indro crew...
i dont really identify myself with any single one of them, i just float around them all
either way, everyone gets together at parties and just has a bloody good time!

Hrm, I wouldn't say I belong to any crews as such, I tend to float between all the different groups wherever I go...
And this can be difficult at times, cause there will always be some bitchyness between two people from different groups, and trying to spend time with either of the groups gets me chastised...
I just wish people would not give a crap...
My 2c...

Dante, you put more than 1 person in a room and before long there will be bitchiness but it's just the nature of people, and some more than others, I guess. I try to spend my time with the people who aren't bitchy and let those who are do their own thing.. mostly...
Is it part of being part of a Melbourne crew to use acronyms and then not explain them? Because if you're trying to appear wanky and exclusive, you're doing doing a good job:P.. if I ever heard anyone from Canberra say they 'spent half the night with the abc crew before dancing with the xyz's and then going mad at the rta afterparty before getting a lift home with a few klm's' I'd be unsure whether or not to slap them.. but then of course Canberra's only big enough for the Canberra crew. Within the Canberra crew, MDMA-4-ALL, Mocha, Corch and myself refer to ourselves as the Posse, slighty tongue-in-cheek ;) . Since our group consists of two pairs of best friends who are dating, we pretty much do all our raving together and the feeling of trust and belonging is great. But since there's just four of us, and we often go out as part of a larger group we don't act like a little clique, we're just an inner circle within a larger circle. Plus we see each other every day, not just at raves since we all live together (well, except for Mocha and she may as well live here :) ) Belonging to a group can provide immensely satisfying feelings of belonging.. but I think it is a mistake to think any group will last forever, or at least continue as it is.. people have fights, people move away.. a relationship splitting can break a group in half, but where would we be without our groups? I know it's fun to go out and meet new people, but if these people don't eventually become part of our group, or us part of theirs then these people we meet are really single serve friends, and while they can be fun and we can learn from them, they don't provide the same sense of contentment and security as a bunch of people who do things together regularly.
New friends are silver, old friends are gold? blah blah blah, I've rambled enough :)

I'm part of the all the girls in this crew are taken or mentally unstable or just undateable. We're looking for new members and hopefully a new name :)

hdp = hageen dazz portal (posse) :)
tkk = the khandi kollective
dfc = drug fucked children
and the one to fear the most:
BOAR = Burnt Out Association of Ravers
^^ those fuckers will suck any enthusiasm you have for the rave scene and colour you jaded...

hehe...the difference between crews and BOAR is that boar is nation wide, and the only prerequisite for joining is you must have a pair of orange phat pants, and must have owned them for more than 4 years....any shorter amount of time, and you're not TRULY jaded :) :) :)
Brisbane chapter of BOAR....reprazzzzzent....LMAO ;)

Damn those DFC scum... I had to fend them off with a broom the other day they were rummaging through my garbage with the decapitated heads of the HDP crew strapped to their backs.... I could smell the scent of burnt phat pants and the faint blood stains of past TKK confirmed kills pasted on their arms.. yeah they're a great bunch.
FREAKS!
:)

Krew's eh? Well i mostly rock up to parties with Lucas and Trav, they are was pass for my krew most of the time, and we tend to hook up with whatever BL's are hanging around the joint :)
Beyond that, i dont really have a specific krew, but thats cool, coz most of you guys seem quite happy to see me whenever i show up :)

i spose like some u i don't have a "crew" as such. i tend to hang around what ever group will let me annoy them...hehehehehehe. and it suits me fine because i like having a large number of people to talk. and someone mentioned earlier, sometimes i feel that if i was part of a crew that in someways it would mean excluding some potential people in my life if my "crew" doesn't like them, which is the last thing i wanna do.
sometimes it can be annoying if my friends don't know each, :\ but then again sometimes it can almost be freeing in a sense.
a part from that there are couple of special people i like to hang out with when ever possible who also don't seem to be part of any "crew".
That said as long the people in AND out of their crew take care of each other i dont see that should be any problems
