Which US phone company you like the best?

I am at the point of switching my phone company, contract on all phones in a family plan has ended. I have At&T now and have major reception issues. My house is a little below ground level in the woods so its bound to have reception issues but I will try out a different company anyways. AT&T states that everything in my area is working great as far as their towers go. And I believe them but it really sucks to have to walk a mile away from the house to make a phone call.

What company do you have and what is your opinion of it.
 
I gots tmobile and it's great but once you use these mytouch 4g's a lot they get slow and uncooperative and you gotta do a factory reset every now n then to get it fast again :|
 
I might get tmobile. Had it before and it was fine. All I will have is just simple phone service with phones only used for talking, nothing fancy, don't need internet service even on the phones.
 
I've had att for the last 7 years, i've never lost a call (without a reason). My friends that have verizon drop calls all the time, and get text messages hours after they were sent.
 
As far as international reliability, At&T, with T-Mobile coming in second. For Blackberry, Sprint is the only choice because you get the lowest price (69.99). Verizon loses a signal every time you step 20-30 miles out of bounds and they are almost as expensive as ATT. For straight American usage and smart phone selection, you can't beat the value of T-Mobile, although that will change with the recent acquisition, which will see T-Mobile monthly rates just as high as ATT. It's a tough choice. For throwaway phones, there is no better prepaid value than T-Mobile.
 
They all suck, now that they've done away with unlimited data plans. In my case AT&T grandfathered my original $30/month unlimited plan in perpetuity as long as I keep them (I know I know a devils bargain haha) But the jokes on them because I am using an old Palm Treo Pro Windows Mobile 6.1 touchscreen/gps/WiFi/3G/Bluetooth/speakerphone/mp3-player/ etc "does everything" machine, which only cost $0 as a replacement for a clearance priced at $50 Samsung that broke while I had Best Buy's free replacement insurance.... so I got a $400 phone for $50 and unlimited data forever at $30/month. Also WM6.1 came with app "Internet Sharing" so I can just plug it into my laptop and Voila! instant wireless modem with unlimited data and very very wide coverage. Sweet! But this was only because of this luck window I got in on. But I would not give it up.

Other than the the data issue, yea ATT's network is probably far broader than any other.

For unlimited data I would go with Clear.com (a division of Sprint?) that has nicely prices USB plugin mobile wireless 4G data with unlimited data as long as you are inside metropolitan 4G support areas. Slip outside that into 3G and they charge you thru the nose.

Like I said they are all sucky moneygrubbing scumbags. But without them we would not have our Star Trek communicators, instant workldwide internet Google answer any question magic boxes.

And now google has VOICE input so it really is Star Trek. Well one more piece to go... a screen reader that is programmed with a Majel Barret voice synthesizer so you could ask it a question in natural voice and it would answer in the Star Trek computer voice.

^man, there is no one I hate more than the guy who has the data plan pricing from the 90's. You assholes are everywhere! :)
 
Oh and an app that plays the Star Trek communicator sound when you flip it open or turn it on.

How come no one has come out with one of those yet? I mean the studio could make a billion by selling that IMO!

Sorry man! Like I said, look into Clear. I am in suburb of Cincinnati (tho I am near 2 interstates and the airport). But from the charts the true high speed "real" 4G coverage is very widespread, and it IS a fixed price for unlimited data. And I think the device is free with free shipping when you get a 2yr plan at like 60/month, not too bad really, then just use Skype or Magic jack for phone. Use it on a some tiny cheap netbook for portability.

I think I am gonna get that as well because the 3G takes like 1.5 hours to download a movie. Hopefully 4G will be a fraction of that???
 
4G is totally overhyped. The commercials are so full of shit, showing Mytouches immediately playing HD video with no buffering. Yeah, maybe in 5 years but I haven't seen it in reality on any devices in any locations, and I've seen all the toys in all the right locations. It's better, of course, but it's nowhere near what it's hyped to be. No reason not to buy into it though, because that's the only way the companies will get the money to support what they are currently advertising.
 
I'm grandfathered in to unlimited data also, which is nice. But for the people who aren't, i'd stay far away from mobile netflix, 2 or 3 movies and you will be over your limit. Just what they want.
 
Are T-Mobile and ATT the same company now? I told my mom we'll just get T-Mobile and she said they are the same company now? Is there some truth to that? I am totally not connected to technology these days?

I haven't held made a phone call today and haven't send a text message in weeks. I feel old. Everyone is on there phone all the time texting. I have no idea what is going on technology wise.

So T-Mobile is a good choice? Just for phone calls and some text messages.

I haven't heard this, but I'm not saying it isn't true. A few years ago, att turned into cingular, and then back. Maybe this is what she's talking about.
 
I would never get t-mobile. I have 2 cousins that have it & they get terrible reception when they are in their basements.

I like verizon the best but att isnt that bad.

The worst ime is sprint. Had them back in 2001 for about 6 months, they had the best looking phones but the worst service I have ever dealt with.

i got a net 10 slide keyboard cellphone
i think i pay $25 for 750mins, which isn't to bad since I really don't talk a lot on the phone, unless work related.

some prepaid phones are weird, some have ghetto hood plans that cost like minutes a day to use it, fuck that. get a plan that only charges you for what you use, minute by minute.

It's been a while since i've had a "contract" phone(AT&T,T-Mobile,Verizon etc.). I'm good at not paying bills on time so those arn't the best kind of phones for me at this moment in my life lol.


verizon wireless hasn't let me down yet, never had AT&T or T-Mobile. mostly because my family has verizon wireless. I hate it that you can only have 5 people on your family plan well for me because i'm not on my family's vw plan :[.

someday i'll start a family of my own and add them all to my plan! hehehehe
