I recently found out that I lived on the same street as the Claremont serial killer in Western Australia.
The murders were in 1996 -1998 and the perp also kidnapped and raped several other women prior to this.
The guy was tracked down and arrested this year. The delay was due to police bungling and misplacement of vital dna evidence that was sent overseas for testing 20 years ago and not chased up.
The amount of bungling, errors and stupidity by police in many of these types of crime sprees is unbelievable.
(Alleged) Claremont serial killer

Were you living near him in Huntingdale, or more recently? I must admit i'm morbidly intrigued by this case as well, as it seemed like it was nobody was ever going to be charged. All the info that has been released publically is from a creepy forum called web sleuths, and i gotta admit i've read a lot of it.
For such a small city, Perth Western Australia has had a lot of really fucked up serial killers, going back to Eric Cooke in the 60s.
As for true crimes, i'm quite interested in the iraq war.
And the Kennedy assassination, i suppose.
I also watched a couple of documentaries about OJ Simpson recently. Was pretty surprised to hear that he was apparently framed by police, and seemingly innocent.
Trial by media.
I don't like the way a lot of people talk about serial killers though, as if they are celebrities. It's a special kind of sick.
