Which is more relaxing: benzos or MDMA?

In your opinion which type of drug do you find more relaxing, especially in social situations: benzos or MDMA? Although these drugs are totally different I find that both are very relaxing and both make you feel completely at peace. I am trying to decide which to invest a bunch of money in. I plan on using them mostly in social situations, but probably with sober people most of the time. I feel that I have racing thoughts, anxiety, and paranoia too often in social situations.

So which do you think would help more in social situations? Which would be more fun and help you be more outgoing and make friends, but not just with other drug users? I would only take small amounts of benzos, not so much that I blackout or anything. On both drugs I feel like I don't care about anything but MDMA has the all-out euphoria while benzos just make me feel completely relaxed and at peace with no real euphoria.

I also feel like I act like a complete fool around sober people while rolling and it might actually make it harder to be social on it. While on low doses of benzos, under 4 mg at a time, I would just be more relaxed and not have to have all those thoughts about what to say and what not to say pop into my head. On benzos I feel more chatty and loose, but maybe come across as a bit goofy. On MDMA I feel that I come across as more weird, awkward, and probably over-confident and thus annoying. But I can't really see how others see me. Also, since it is powdered etizolam I am getting (technically not a benzo but whatever) it is going to be so much cheaper than MDMA. Please share your thoughts on the social and anxiolytic effects of these two substances and share your experiences.

I would think with MDMA after the first couple hours or so, your anxiety will come back and be much stronger once you start to comedown. I personally usually experience health related anxiety almost the entire time I take any stimulants. I can't help but check my HR constantly and look at the veins in my arms to see how big they are from increased blood pressure. Once the main euphoria starts to fade I'm always left with uncomfortable chest pressure and sometimes random pains in completely random places. I can feel my heart beat in my chest and it makes trying to sleep extremely hard. Palpitations sometimes happen too and leave me with even more anxiety.

With benzos it completely gets rid of any of the feelings I just mentioned above which I also experience even when I'm sober because I'm pretty prone to social anxiety. Definitely one of the worst things that has come out of dabbling with drugs. I never used to have a social anxiety problem, if anything I was almost over confident before.

You're better off with etizolam if you're going to be hanging with mostly sober people. It will make you feel calm and relaxed, and as long as you don't dose to high you won't seem high to anyone. If everyone was doing MDMA it would be a different situation, but they aren't. You'd probably just become slightly paranoid of others being around sober people on it, with MDMA.

Benzo addiction however is not something to mess around with. There are definite withdrawals from etizolam IMO. I went through around 50mg in about a week and a half and just stopped cold turkey cause I ran out. Had about two days of bad flu like symptoms and felt like shit. Some days I was taking 6mg+. Damn etilaam-MD tastes like fucking candy.

One is a stimulant the other is a depressent.

I would think depressent would be synonymous with relaxant.

Well benzos are definitely more relaxing in my book, but when it comes to social situations I'd go with MDMA personally, just because benzos make me very quiet and somewhat apathetic.
Whichever you choose, please, please be careful not to start relying on thee drug to help with your social anxiety - it's a road to disaster. Much more productive to work soberly on your issues.

for me, MDMA. Although it makes me a bit speedy, I'm comfortable with that speedy. Ha kind of hard to explain. Socially relaxing: MDMA. Lay down and watch tv relaxing: Benzos. With benzos i feel too tired too talk, lol.

I too suffer from very similar symptoms as you OP, yet dealing with these problems with a bad drug habit makes it all the more difficult, when i first discovered Benzos they seemed like a 'cure all' for my problems but i soon began to rely on them too heavily and ended up in hell.

Best of luck to you in whatever path you choose to take..

I might have been addicted to etizolam by now if it wasn't for the fact that every time I place an order for the powder I end up taking too large of a dose and then I lose my entire stash. This has happened 3 times already lol. I am thinking about doing liquid dossing next time so I can control my intake better. I always feel so relaxed the next day though and find it really easy to talk to people since after taking such a large dose it is still probably in my system.

I think I do feel a bit apathetic though. It may be easier to talk to people sometimes but after taking them for a while I don't really care about anything and just feel really tired.

But from my experience MDMA is not really a stimulant at all. It amps me up for sure but at the same time I feel so relaxed and my thoughts are really slowed down. It is the only drug that I have had this experience from. It seems that it does two opposite things at once. I'd describe it as more intense and overwhelming (but never uncomfortable) than speedy.

I feel that xanax works well for me in social situations. I get real laid back without getting too sleepy. Lowers my inhibitions real good

using Mdma in social situations where other people are not using is a bad idea, you will alienate yourself imho, a very low dose wouldn't be too noticeable at first, but even at low doses in the long run will "catch up" and you will likely suffer depression and increased anxiety. If you're going to take mdma, take it with good friends to rave or party or simply at a small gathering between good friends, the conditions, circumstances and surroundings have a huge impact on the experience and as a tip i would recommend no more than once a month maximum, more often will "catch up" fast.

Benzos will help with anxiety and racing thoughts in social situations, but they are not miracle pills, you're talking about investing in a "large amount", with benzos there is a danger that you will take a liking to them and not only take them in social situations, but also just to relax at home et. then you're entering the start of a vicious circle. Tolerance is also a factor with benzos. If you're taking 0.5mg xanax before going out on a friday and keep it at that you'll be fine tolerance wise, but it will likely become a habit eg. you won't go out if you haven't got any benzos, if you are taking larger amounts more often then the risk of addiction comes into the picture. If you drink alcohol it is highly advised not to take any benzos, that being said imho it is better to take a valium and drink three pints than to drink a bottle of whisky with no benzos.

Either way, although benzos are in this case the lesser of two "evils" for your social anxiety, high doses will not play to your advantage, 0.5mg of xanax (for example) as needed can be therapeutic for anxiety imho. Things can also vary depending on the person, but high dose benzos before social situations will likely lead to regrets.

I couldn't have possibly said it any better myself. ;)

I agree/have experienced what you are saying down to every last word.

Benzos are more relaxing. As many have said, using drugs to enable yourself to have social encounters is a bad idea, as you will become dependent on those drugs fulfilling that function (plus dependent on them in a shitload of other ways, at least when we're talking about benzos).

If you do go ahead and do this, though, I would say a therapeutic dose of an anxiolytic benzo would be the best choice - as you've already said, being on MDMA makes you socially relaxed in a rather forward, enthusiastic, and obvious way. People will suspect from your behavior that you've taken something. You won't notice it nearly as well yourself but you'll be excessively social in an unconventional way.
1-2mg of lorazepam, 10-20mg of diazepam or something similar will just reduce your anxieties, lower your inhibitions and allow you to let loose and socialize without all the worry. Unless you take a lot (or unless you are drinking, in which case, less benzos and very little alcohol, better none at all) you will probably seem sober, you won't get "fucked up" and probably won't seem too forward or different; you should just feel relief from your social paranoia and anxiety and be able to converse in a relaxed state.

Getting into the habit of doing this, though, will not only get you addicted to benzos if you do it with any kind of regularity, but also make you decidedly more anxious about social situations if not on benzos.

It's a pretty simple road, and it leads straight to all kinds of bad.

Benzos.... always and forever. It makes my horrible anxiety go away and I have no worries... I remember having my blood pressure reach over 160 when they checked me at the emergency room. They hooked me up to an ekg because they thought I was having a heartattack but it was just my anxiety. Got some benzos there and a script. Yup, was definitely relaxed after that. Now, mdma usually makes me feel like I gotta do shit (not speedy like) and I never felt relaxed on it.... maybe because I've always taken high doses for the most part. The only time I did was when I took sass when I was on zoloft (stupid, I know) and all I wanted to do was chill. I was pretty relaxed besides for the muslce spasms happening with my face.

More social ie helping you open up/interact freely: mdma (in the right company and setting)
More *relaxing*: benzos, hands down.

The thing to remember, if you go with the mdma, is lowish doses, just as with the benzo. I'd say no higher than 50-70mg mdma, for what you're trying to achieve.

MDMA is sedating.
Sedating =/= relaxing.

The better answer is benzos, even though neither of those options are the best way to go about it. If you constantly use benzos, youll end up with addiction and terrible withdrawals. If you constantly use MDMA, youll end up depressed amongst other mental issues.

Hydroxyxine has wonderful anxiolytic properties, which is what I would suggest.

It seems like you already answered your own question in the end leaning towards benzos. I would say the same. Mdma has no place imo with people who are not under the influence. You will be on two dif energy levels and they wont be understanding your vibe.

Using MDMA for that purpose will make you look crazy. Benzos are definitely the better option, but nothing lasts forever and in the long run benzos will worsen the problem if used (too) often.

Also I agree on the hydroxyzine seyer suggested. Definitely try this first.

Benzos definitely.

If I do MDMA, I want to go out and do something. I want to party and socialize or go on an adventure. And yes I do mean pure MDMA which you can sleep on. (I've been to sleep still high on it) But it still provides the social effects akin to a stimulant of wanting to do something special and out of the ordinary.

Benzos I take to be social, but not before a party. Only before school or work do I soley take benzos. Those are the places where I can have the diminished processing capability to focus on only work, but do so logically and without my anxiety problems that are borderline delusions. If I were to go to a party with a benzo, then I would have to take something like MDMA or preferrably meth with it. Benzos still make me tired and somewhat uncaring of a lot of things. Adding a stimulant will almost guarantee I will meet a new girl and either win or talk enough to get to know her quite well. If i did just benzos, then I would probably be slurring and maybe nod out while talking to the first girl i meet. I'd rather just drink then take a benzo.
