Where's the unlike button?

the cat has "idc" written over it... which no one really uses, but i think it's supposed to be "i don't care", which doesn't really work if you think something is just incorrect cause you care to correct it.... and also there is "angry" which shows you aren't into a post, but that doesn't always fit either.

i feel like a thumbs down button would work and wouldn't be too offensive, but maybe they want people to clarify why they don't like or disagree with something in a post so people don't just start thumbs downing everything by posters they don't like... i don't know... the mods should.. maybe there just isn't an emoji that goes with the coding of this site.. i'm pretty sure this website is coding that other boards use too.. it's not like blue light has their own person coding the site.. it's precoded stuff probably made by another website/designer not affiliated with BL i'm pretty sure anyways... i'd like to know if a member of blue light actually codes this site.. from the way i heard people describe editing stuff, i'm gonna guess they have some type of program other than just editing the basic coding of the websites... sometimes it's hard to just change one little thing on a website like this if they are coding it. you have to do a bunch of code just for one little thing. those are possible reasons for the way things are i'd guess.

i think it'd be cool to have like a way to vote on whether something is fact or not, or give a color if something is fact or another color if something is just someone's general experience or hypothesis.. but that might be confusing, and also coding that would be a super bitch...

usually everything just gets straightened out in posts.. it kind of makes more sense that way... i think the voting just gives people a score to show how much they post on the site and what repsonses they get... i don't know if like "angry" or "idc" cat lowers the score or what.

exactly. i think that's a much better way to express a dislike because you have to take time to think about what to answer and make that answer a valid one. pressing a button is just an emotional reaction that requires no thought process at all.

reactions were shown under your info until a few months ago. it said how much posts you made, what amount of reactions you got.
i think it's a good thing this info is not shown anymore on plain sight.
i don't know if like "angry" or "idc" cat lowers the score or what.
they count like any other reaction.
there is no positive/negative value to the reactions.

OK after reading these and remembering why I'm not on any social media you all made me remember one of the reasons and its the likes and how people react and treat them like gold. Maybe the whole like/unlike thing is a bad idea.

One thing I've never seen on these forums is a lot of conflict like I've seen on other advice forums, especially in regards to a certain topic which I will refrain from naming to avoid conflict and I'll just keep my thoughts to myself about that topic. 😉

I was just going to click the like button on this one but this emoji is more fitting :ROFLMAO: because that is by far my favorite emoji but unfortunately could see it causing problems as well. Sorry but I'm dropping this on your post, hope you don't mind.
:poop::poop::poop: Reaction may be similar to having that eagle in your profile drop a duece on someone and their reaction. :ROFLMAO:

You cut this part out "like I've seen on other advice forums" and I didn't say I saw zero conflict. Every forum has conflict but some are just off the hook craze where it turns completely off topic. It seems this is far better moderated and if this stuff gets posted, it's just removed before most see it.

Posting anything is more engaging than just clicking a button that says you dislike/disagree and you don't want to say more just like when I click on something I like. A post would definitely generate a response where a simple dislike may not.

It would totally generate a response a la reddit. Putting dislike without any engagement or clarification would get lots of 'why the hell is my comment being downvoted'.

Either way you lose ... :sneaky:

I only use the like button to support previous posts without having to add anything further or if its just info that is new and interesting to me. Not looking for any likes myself or the stats of others like other social media sites do. I just found the other options under the like button but I'll still just sticking to a click on the like icon that defaults to a thumbs up and will use any other very cautiously.

I'm a cat person and buenas noches sounds so much better than good night or see you tomorrow even if I didn't know what it actually meant. 🙂
