Are you a barely skimming the stem kind of person? or a gallon of water goes in your bong?

i put as much in as possible. its more exciting with all the bubbles bouncing around. little shards of ice banging on the glass does add to the experience. i change the water frequently and am considering put some of that colouring in that florists use for a run. some luminous coolant could be amusing.

a mini flashlight down the ice catcher is awesome for night smoking. back on topic, I make sure the down stem is at least a half inch below the water level. I never use the same bong water for 2 sessions, that's just gross!

I use the least amount necessary to barely allow bubbles, this leaves more room for smoke. :D

but the smoke is in the body of the bong, not doing anybody any good in there.

you need to empty the bong of fresh air before you start inhaling the good stuff. surely you'd have lost say 0.5l of your total lung capacity before you even start smoking?

:(

I fill it maybe 1cm over the bottom of the stem in a decent size bong, if shes small then maybe only half a cm over it. I like the minimal amount possible. Leet, I question how many bongs you have smoked if you think that smoke doesn't fill the whole thing? If you re taking a proper rip any area of the bong that isnt full of water will be milky white with smoke.

lol yes i can SEE that.

i didnt say smoke wouldn't fill the void, but there will be no decrease in the volume of smoke generated merely because your bong has more water in it.

less water means more air in the bong initially [ and therefore less room for smoke in your lungs] and, more importantly, LESS coolants in the bong - leading to a hotter smoke.

right above the top of the diffuser/stem. that way the pull is nice and easy, which allows fast and large snaps!

Every bong is different. I start by filling the bubble about halfway. I make sure that the downstem is fully submerged and then rip the empty bong HARD. If the water spits up to my mouth there is too much water. This is important to do before the bong is smoked out of so that the water is clean. :D

When I put ice in the tube I often add only enough water to gover the bottom of the downstem so that when the ice melts I don't end up with too much water.

so just blow the old air out through your nose while the smoke waits another half a second

my bong is small, i fill it as much as i can before the water starts to go all over my lips when i pull the slide out. i sit in the bathroom re doing my water level untill it feels best

edit:why put ice in your bong? what difference does it make?

I depends on the piece really, if its a smaller bong less water because bong water isn't great to get in your mouth, but bigger bongs lots because it can't splash up as easily.

It totally depends on the Bong IMO.

In general though, I start with maybe a 1/4 - 1/2 of an inch of water above the end of the stem.
