To break up the monotony of studying, I decided to share what's in my backpack on an almost daily basis.

This isn't a competition to see who has the coolest stuff, but maybe this will be helpful for new comers to see what others think are daily necessities of university life. :)

I've cut these down to 4"x3" at 72 resolution.

My backpack:

Probably the pocket with the most important stuff:

Contents: Kleenex, bus schedule, scientific calculator, daily planner, pocket dictionary, wrist brace (for carpal tunnel), loop (for geology classes), voice recorder, page tags, and my pencil case with random pens, pencils, highlighters, and whatnot (also some chewable pepto bismol!).

In two of my pockets (so not to take too many pics:

Contents: 3 Quick study guides for quick reference (Nuclear chem, beginning chem, and earth science), Crayola twistable colored pencils (used for making my structure maps colorful), Halls Defense (to ward off the nasty germ crud flying around this year), Cherry Halls Cough Drops, Crystal Lite On the Go, Graham crackers (to save myself $$$ from the vending machines), dehydrated strawberries and bananas, and headphones for my iPod or to use on a computer that I am using.

The Tuesday and Thursday usual in my backpack:

Chemistry text, lab manual, lab notebook, regular notebook, and some notes that need filing.

Edit: Smartassery isn't needed. We know this is bluelight, and there is drug discussion. It's fine if you include that as some of the things, but flat out making obnoxious posts aren't necessary. Your attempts at being funny are failing miserably. ;)

Well I'm not taking pics, but heres a list:
Books and notebooks (DUH!)
graphing calculator
about 20 pens/pencils/highlighter
^thats the run of the mill shit, if you don't have that then why are you at in school? there's also:
A huge bottle of hand sanitizer (germophobe)
extra bottles with my prescriptions (in case I stay somewhere else for a night)
deodorant, sunscreen (school is coastal)
sunglasses and a beanie (to go incognito)
emergency cigarettes
inflatable sheep (singular, not plural - what do you think I am, a sicko?)
deck of playing cards
random light reading, a minibible some dude gave me, a crazy political book (larouche - can't stand the guy), etc
ehhh.. thats it I think.

exciting, huh?!??!

I have personally learned that keeping a stick of deodorant in my backback is clutch for the days whene i roll out of bed and out the door because I overslept (every day), as well as chap stick, toothpicks, matches ("have a light?"), and I keep oddities like string and other random shit I find on the ground that isnt complete garbage.

My ex fuckin hated how I would find all this random useful shit on the ground and take it home. I mean, I found a pair of legit oakleys one time, and I usually find about 20 bucks a semester, and all sorts of funny shit.

Word to the wise, keep an eye out for stuff someone may have dropped (not just dropped you ass, you return that shit) theres always good shit laying around.

I'd never thought of sunscreen, but then again, I'm nowhere near a coast.

Others might find it useful, though. :)

I dont use a backpack. They drive me crazy! In the first years of school I would carry my books in my arm if I even brought them because more often than not we never used them in class. A pen in my pocketbook along with my calculator. Now in the last year and a half I only bring a small notebook to class. We dont use the books in class and to be honest my damn professors never assign anything in the book they give us prints or online videos so I dont even buy the books. I am very lucky though as I know it isnt usually like this. Come May my non-back pack will turn into a non-briefcase as I graduate! ;)

I think your major is much more in depth than mine though :) Science, math etc all require a lot more than the average Id think.

This is true, but my liberal arts classes are almost worse than my science classes in how much stuff I have to take.

What everyone else has said, more or less.

But I also have a USB stick
some co-codemols
Vaseline
a bottle of lucozade with caffeine boost for if I find myself nodding off
batteries
swiss army knife, only for the tweezers and bottle opener
limp roller thingy - my clothes always get covered in my cat's hair when hanging up on the radiators

HUGE 5-subject notebook
Laptop /w charger, mouse, and CAT6E
8GB USB stick
TI-89 Platinum
Text books (depending on if I will need them or not)
Pens/pencils
Bottle of Excedrin (APAP/aspirin/caffeine pain reliever)
Bottle of energy supplements with caffeine and like 15 different nootropics
iPod/headphones
Small jar containing usually about 3g cannabis /w lighter and small pipe
Copy of my medical marijuana documentation (see above :))

emergency cigarettes

Emergency cigarettes? In case you get really stressed out and need to recommence smoking (during a period of quitting)? Or just for when the ones you carry on you run out?

In my bag I generally have:

~ A bottle of water
~ Deodorant
~ A handful of pens
~ A note book
~ Between one and three textbooks, changing depending on what I need for the day
~ An iPod
~ Panadol and or cold/flu tablets
~ Chewing gum and or mints
~ A sandwich and or a half eaten muffin
~ Scattered pieces of stationary
~ A calculator (for statistics)
~ Diary (for reminders and "to do" lists)

a notepad, a pen, a jumper or t shirt sometimes, a novel for the train ride if i feel like it, sometimes weed.

you guys pack too much shit >_< make me feel guilty.

edit: and deodorant

Agreed. My professors expect me to bring an absolutely insane amount of crap to classes. Usually a book or two, a packet they gave us last week, plus the large- bound supplementary packet. And this is just for one class. It drives me nuts.

Other than all that crap I usually have the usual stuff in my bag:
- sunglasses
- ipod
- nasal spray
- ibuprofen
- pens
- cigarettes
- planner

I should've posted the materials I have to take to my structural geology class. It seems my professor has no use for the book he asked us to buy. Instead, I have about 700 pages of photocopied material to read instead. :|
