Hey guys forgive me if there`s already a thread on this but Im new to benzos and prescriptions in general. Here`s what I want out of my med: -sedative effect
-anti anxiety
-could be used to treat depression and OCD aswell
-minimum chance of side effects like weight gain(something I'm terrified of as I'm an extremely health conscious person)
ALSO, and this ones important -I do not want something that needs to build up in my system as I do not want to take something everyday. I want something that`ll work as long as it`s in your system :)

Here are a few Ive looked at as options
-Xannx
-Khlonopin
-Ambien
-Valium

these are just a few Ive been given the opportunity to use I would love to hear some other options benzo or other family.

Thanks in advance!

Ambien is not a benzo

It's all individual

Klonopin could increase OCD in some, others would develop OCD from it, others would think they're completely cured...
Valium is probably the best for building up in the system, and you'll barely feel it coming off, if at all
all have a chance of weight gain, I'm an extremely skinny daily benzo user now, a lot of fat in my diet, but I only eat after I take the benzo, I find that avoiding food while you're on the benzos contributes to depression

Xanax is pretty horrible, IMO

Oxazepam could be right for you though, it's a very mellow and light sort
not nearly as potent as the ones you've listed, but the half life is pretty decent

We don't allow "what drug should I take" threads - go see a doctor, we aren't doctors.

Also, if you have anxiety AND depression issues, then you really need to see a doctor because benzos are depressants and can seriously increase pre-existing depression.

You're kinda looking for a wonder drug that doesn't exist.

ALSO, and this ones important -I do not want something that needs to build up in my system as I do not want to take something everyday. I want something that`ll work as long as it`s in your system

You WILL have to take something every day, probably multiple times a day. Even klonopin needs to be taken twice a day. You also do understand that benzo addiction is very difficult to kick and that the efficacy of any med is going to seriously drop over time. After awhile the anxiety that comes with being an addict makes benzos essentially useless. You should really look into valerian, kava, and other stuff like that.

No benzos effectively treat depression or OCD. Ambien is a nonbenzodiazepine drug, meaning it is structurally different from benzodiazepines but has similar effects. Ambien has an incredibly short half-life and has showed little promise in treating anxiety. Both Valium and Klonopin have long half-lives and are fairly effective in treating anxiety. Xanax is similar but more powerful and has a significantly decreased half-life. What you are doing is asking a bunch of strangers for psychopharmacological advice, when we know nothing about your history or the scope of your anxiety. This is why (good) doctors ask so many questions prior to prescribing a medication. Psychiatry and psychology recognize 7 different types of anxiety disorders
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Social Phobia
Panic Disorder
Agoraphobia
Phobias
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
So a psychiatrist first must determine which category you fit into, take into account your medical history and factor in a number of other variables before deciding which medication would be best suited for you. And the things you are looking for in a drug simply don't exist in union.

If you start taking Benzo's chances are your just gonna end up getting addicted and mentally dependent on them. I used to be addicted to Xanax and Valium and taking them for me was a crazy ride. I was taking 8-10 (10mgs) a day of either one or both. Whichever I could get my hands on and when I quit the withdrawals were horrible. My anxiety was 50 million times worse and I thought I was dying. It's def not worth it. My doctor put me on Vistaril and Neurontin together, that seemed to help me a lot. Ask your doc if that may work for you. I have PTSD by the way.
