Very rarely do i want to buy or buy material things.
Thats definitely where I'm at now, too.
I used to be a much more active musician, always had a real hard working band going plus several side projects. And I was a total (music instrument/equipment) gearhead (i was a gearhead in both sense of the term for a while, too...). But I managed to buy all of the necessities to take care of any live music situation (an amazing electric guitar, a fender custom shop amp, a total true-bypass pedal board with top end lossless capbles running between three seperate boutique gain stages, teese rmc3 wah, boutique phaser, boutique chorus/trem, boutique analog delay, and a takamine acoustic/electric). I still have all of this equipment, amazingly, so if i ever found a good situation to play music in, i'm all set on that front...
During my multiple clean stints, I've done a lot more travelling, seeing more live music and enjoying time in cool towns like Asheville, NC, Boulder/Front Range of Colorado, NYC, etc... hell, even in the depths of addiction i still caught some live music from time to time, just not as much... most of my disposable income goes to recreation, be it in the form of music, travel, or drugs... its just the ratios that vary from time to time....
