What tripping might be like?

Ok, I never frequent this thread because I rarely trip and not very hard usually. It is difficult to get an idea of what it would be like to experience.
But I found this video and I imagine this might be what it would be like... at any rate the idea is pretty sweet.

I don't think a video can give someone any idea of what a psychedelic experience is like. It's entirely internal. It's more psychological than visuals.

I really don't see what that video has to do with anything about the pscyhedelic experience.

The only way to find out is to take a dose and fall into yourself. :)
 
The only media ive seen that depicts psychedelic visuals pretty well is the art style in "Waking Life" and "A Scanner Darkly"

I'm just trying to determine if its gonna freak me out. I've done morning glory and that was horrible tacital only experience. I've tripped a couple times a lil on weed and it was just disorienting and I didn't like it. And I don't think the 1 time I rolled gave me much of an idea either. Nothing like what tripping is described as. So I don't know if shrooms would be a bad idea or not.
 
Morning glory are a dirty psychedelic; don't let that turn you off. There's much better ones out there.

Mushrooms can be powerfully transforming, but they are known to produce a fair bit of anxiety; moreso than other psychedelics.

The best real psychedelic that's easy to surrender to is good ol' LSD. :) <3

Seriously; I think if you would really like LSD. It's more of a positive psychedelic with good vibes. Just accept things and surrender to the state. :)
 
Hey Pillthrill, good to see you here :) I'm gonna have to agree that LSD is the way to go if you want to have a real introduction to psychedelics. Even though I don't recommend it in the interest of harm reduction and safety, my first trip was 3 hits of probably the best acid I've had still. I lost my damn mind, and I thank Albert Hofmann everday before I go to sleep :) I think it's good to start with a lower dose if you want to get a feel for it, and I don't think a low dose of LSD would freak you out at all. It's very peaceful and smooth ime.

I love to hear about people getting ready for their first trips, if you decide to do it, make sure you do it right. Set & setting, then dive down the rabbit hole into a new and improved (and arguably more real) reality. <3

Agreed, Richard Linklater is great, and Waking Life is mindblowing
 
Also, be wary of smoking pot. Marijuana can trigger anxiety.

Pot gives me a lot more anxiety than LSD. Smoking during a trip can make it take a bad turn. If you really want to smoke, wait til later on in the trip.

It's weird, for my first probably 2 years of tripping I didn't think I could trip without weed. It always picked up the intensity while simultaneously calming me down. Now recently I havent been smoking during a trip until the end, well past the peak. Just doesnt feel right anymore :\

All you can do is try a psychedelic. Thats the only way to begin to imagine what tripping is like.

If you decide on mushrooms, start with 1.5-2g if youre concerned about freaking out. Psychedelics arent scary or disturbing like I thought they would be before I had my first trip. Infact Ive reached states of euphoria and bliss so intense I never thought possible.

I personally recomend mescaline as a starting psychedelic if you can obtain/extract some. I've ingested straight up cactus multiple times and it was difficult to do, but entirely worth it.

And as you've probably heard set and setting are the most important factor to the quality of your trip. If you're overly anxious or are in a bad mood beforehand, its not a good idea to load yourself up on psychedelics. Same goes for tripping in uncomfortable places. Wait until you're already in a good, positive mood and are someplace comfortable to trip and you'll have the time of your life.
 
That video went really well with a Jakwob remix I was listening to for the song Under the Sheets by Ellie Goulding.

However I dont believe any video can ever fully capture the beauty, and wonder that is tripping. The visuals are completely set from your own thoughts and they can be warped when you put time and energy into them. I usually get the whole worlds melting/bending and twisting into round shapes when I trip.

I have showed so many people that video!! That was exactly what it was like looking in the mirror. Almost freaky how good it is, and really makes me want to take acid :) Been a while since ive seen u around here amor, u should pop in more often
 
lsd makes lights kind of strobe a little for me during the comeup....

really it is very difficult to describe, a lot like describing the color red to a blind person.

You just kind of have to do it, do not worry about a bad trip. Just let go.

I agree. I think if you are looking to trip purely for a visual experience, you may be in for quite a rude awakening!! Or perhaps the best awakening you've ever had.:)


Pillthrill, if you decide to take shrooms, be prepared to confront things in your mind that you may not even have been aware of in the first place. Just don't fight it.:)
 
Fear and loathing had some pretty accurate visuals. Especially the ones with wavey carpet and paint being sucked off of walls. Both things I've seen on mushrooms.
 
^Interesting. Those reminded me alot of mescaline visuals. They actually did a damn good job at that.

The visuals I had on shrooms weren't 'flowy' like that. More....I dunno. fucking weird and abrupt is the only way i can describe them. :D

(i'm not trying to devalue your individual experience with shrooms btw :) )
