Sooo... first off I hate the psychiatrist I go to now, the only reason I am currently going to him is because he is prescribing things I need and I am in search of a GOOD psychiatrist who cares more.
Anyways, I've seemed to notice a pattern with him.. at least it appears so.. he always writes prescriptions for the types of medications in that category that have no generic, but a VERY similar drug that is generic.. or (such as suboxone) there is generic pills now and he put me on the film strips ?
I asked for Adderall XR last time.. Vyvanse ? Even though I repeadtly said Adderall.. but I know he will prescribe Adderall XR and I want to be on that in the first place.
I was already prescribed Adderall IR and I was on that for a while, but then I got tired of having to remember to take it repeatedly throughout the day and sometimes I would take too many a day and run out early. So I asked to switch to an extended release.. and he put me on Vyvanse, which wasn't really a problem. But I much preferred the effects from Adderall and the side effects were little to none from Adderall and I have more side-effects from taking Vyvanse... and it seems I have built a much higher tolerance for Vyvanse (or it isn't giving me to jolt I am wanting) than I did with Adderall.
I was taking about 50mg or Adderall IR or 40mg each day.. and now I need to take my 60mg + another to get the threshold it seems .
Basically what I am asking is , what is the best things to say to have him switch me to Adderall XR from Vyvanse so that he definitely will do so? Because he seems to not listen to half of the things I say and insist.. I bring my dad with me for the fact that he didn't trust me when I came back a year ago (due to me back then abusing him prescribing xanax n what not) and wanted my dad to help me with getting off heroin to get suboxone (he did) , and he always says to my dad how Vyvanse is abuse proof and blah blah blah.. and that is why he prescribes it. Tho I don't "shoot" addearll or sniff it (as the doctor says you can do with adderall but can't with vyvanse) , and so he prescribes it.... plus it also costs like 3x as much as Adderall XR i believe.

. Switch psychs if you must, but vyvanse for me works pretty well. I can't afford it anymore though so I must switch to to Dexedrine/dextrostat, as lamp would probably give me too many side effects. Good luck.
