I'm sure everyone has different way's of learning, such as I learn better by reading out loud, and you may learn better by writing note cards.
Choose one that best suits your learning style:
1.Visual (spatial)-You prefer using pictures, images, and spatial understanding.

2.Aural (auditory-musical)-You prefer using sound and music.

3.Verbal (linguistic)-You prefer using words, both in speech and writing.

4.Physical (kinesthetic)-You prefer using your body, hands and sense of touch.

5.Logical (mathematical)-You prefer using logic, reasoning and systems.

6.Social (interpersonal)-You prefer to learn in groups or with other people.

7.Solitary (intrapersonal)-You prefer to work alone and use self-study.

Me personally I'm a better auditory learner, I learn by reading text books, notes, books, etc out loud. I can't stand a noisy background while reading. I don't like to write unless I have to. So that's me, what are you?

It depends on what I am learning. Different things sometimes require at least one of these (for example, you can't really learn how to play catch without bit of 4 and 6 forced upon you).

In general, I'd say that I am the 5 & 7 combo. Definately a 7, because I like going at my own set pace, not having distractions, and I don't like groupwork. A 5, becuase I tend to study topics that require such an effort.

I do like to combine this with writing. I find that if I write something out in the form of a textbook chapter, even if nobody will ever read it, I will understand it better. Coming at it from the mindset of someone who wants another self-teacher to read and learn from. For example, if I wanted to best learn about the basics of a combustion engine, I would probably research it a bunch (gaining the basic understanding), and then write a textbook-style chapter on it (so as to solidify my understanding, fill in gaps I might not have realized I had, etc.)

I'm attempting to learn a second language right now, though. And the 5/7 combo does not work well for me with this. I prefer using a 2 & 3 combo, even though it's a bit out of my comfort zone.

1 through 7, and no that isn't a cop out.

As a general statement, I tend to learn things in a disjointed way over long periods of time. I'm constantly reinterpreting information and testing it against my life experiences. I venture out of my comfort zone on a regular basis--physically, emotionally, and intellectually--to better wrap my head around a topic.

Whether I truly understand anything is still debatable.

( heh )

Verbal (written), Visual, Solitary, and sometimes Logical. I can't learn in groups, I get too distracted talking about other things. Also, I learn best while laying in bed with total silence.
