My medulla and pons, I think they're pretty cool guys, they quietly handle tasks like breathing, pulse/blood pressure regulation, thermo-regulation, stretch reflex/balance/muscle tone, reflex withdraw from painful stimuli that help prevent me from injuring myself , eye focus and movement, facial sensation and movement, hearing, Proprioception (the sense of your body's orientation in 3 dimensional space, both to the external world, like knowing your hand is going the right direction under your lovers shirt, and relative it yourself, like being able to coordinate yourself to scratch an itch) Coughing, sneezing and swallowing, which prevent me from aspiring stuff into my lungs and injuring them or drowning on my own mucus, and all sorts of other "little" things that we never think about. Why? Because this "primitive" part of my body keeps it all under control, without even having to bother my temporal or frontal lobes with the details, and as such, they exist beyond my perception or the control of my executive functions. That's a good thing too, cause like, it's pretty complicated stuff to be honest, and it's the kind of stuff I really should not be able to control with my executive functions, cause if I fuck up it kills me.
Fuck yeah, brain stem!
