Serax is a short-to=mod. acting benzodiazepine, which must be dosed 3-4 times a day for effect. Even though its method of therapeutic action is short, it is mild on the liver, compared to most other benzodiazepines. In a high range index, say 120 , the rec'd FDA MAX QD or for most of us a bit above that, it causes mild euphoria in most individuals. It's simply not too easy to obtain in the US as the SERAX name is now defunct and only the generic oxazepam is produced, which, by SANDOZ, is no different at all than the one from the days of yore, just not as pretty. And oddly, as the dosage increases, the capsules are smaller [the 30mg capsule is tiny and the 15 is about twice as big]. It has to accumulate in the body first in order for it to be 'felt'.
it's also one of the least addictive benzodiazepines. and is used, by many old skool psychiatrists who had experience with it back when it was very popular, to wean benzoheads off benozheading by administering something that is an actively functionining bzdp without common myorelaxant effects, some opiate-like feelin's and this bizzare quality to take , say a dose of 15 at which most people would just laugh and laugh....and reduce sleep onset latency dramatically by lying down in a cool, quiet, comfortable, darkened room, even with a mind full of doubt and hesitation and all that....and finding yourself sweetly asleep minutes later, and up about 7 hours later without hangover. It's also perfect for treatment of opiate, alcohol, cocaine, and amphetamine abuse. Yes it's the forgotten panacea. In certain countries its the n umber one forged benzo prescription, and in some lands its banned...!!!!!!
try it out, its an acquired taste. dont listen to all the hype.; besides...i think EVERYTHING i've ever tried that had an X in the name, maybe c the exception of Librax, ....metaxalone...and thiothixene [the latter being one i never tried but im most certain i'd not love it]....has been quite interesting.
