What is meant by the term "Plugging"

I have heard this term used in the forum in reference to using pills. But what does the term mean? Shooting the pills up? Snorting them? what is it?

Plugging is the slang term for intra-rectal administration of substances.

The most effective way to prepare is to prepare as you would for IV, load it up in a needleless syringe and insert it in your anus.

I guess it's called plugging because you well... You know. Plug it :D.

It often has the highest bioavailability below injecting and provides a very quick onset of action.
