...to be a daily toker? Do you still feel "high?" Does being sober feel really weird? HOw do you perform your daily tasks?, etc., etc. I'm just wondering in a case I want to toke daily in the future. %)

Yes, you still get high off of quality herb, but the high's only last ~20 mins. You eventually learn to become functional while you're high, sans any decent short-term memory. After toking daily for a while, being sober almost becomes like a high in itself.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend becoming a daily toker. It really saps your motivation for doing anything for yourself. Being bored becomes acceptable. So instead of learning anything new, or working on something that will materialize in the future, you just make do with the present. And it really destroys the whole novelty, or "magic" of being high. You begin to smoke because it makes reality slightly more tolerable, not because being high in and of itself is any fun.

well said Transcendence. Not that i smoke it every day but i do it enough to feel no motivation. pretty much all the problems are revolved around motivation lol, waking up at reasonable times, working to earn money, just even doing none home/computer stuff

I was a daily toker for a number of years (COLLEGE!). Not only that, but I'd smoke out multiple times every day (around 10-15 times, which equals near-constant smoking).

Smoking that much, no matter what quality your weed is, is going to create a definite tolerance, not to mention some icky side effects, like coughing, lowered resistance to respiratory infections due to irritation of the throat/lungs, and possibly cognitive effects like impaired short-term memory and computation abilities.

However, the first high of the day is always great, or at least noticeable. That forced 8+ hour break from pot you get when you're asleep really resets your immediate tolerance and allows you to get high upon smoking again. So you could technically be a "daily toker" and still get blasted, provided you only smoke once or twice a day.

^ Agreed. The first high of the day is the best but after awhile when your tolerance builds up (atleast for me) it becomes a 20 minute buzz followed by overall tiredness. If you're going to smoke daily I'd advise doing so at the end of the night before bed, if you're only smoking 1-2 bowls a night your tolerance won't become too strong. The one problem with that however is when you do take breaks it becomes harder to fall asleep.

Honestly, I just lately have become a daily toker. It has only done horrible things for me. Dropped my grades, I started moving apart from my friends that didn't smoke. Honestly, it was the worst choice I ever made. At least for the first month or so. Then I got used to smoking daily, going to school high, etc. I'm just as normal as I was, plus I feel awesome ^_^

you have to have to have a select group of friends if you want to start smoking everyday and they have to down for smoking everyday too. it really is a good way to get pushed apart from non smoking friends. we used to kick it with sober people and smoke and shit and once we started doing it everyday they all left. id say thats one of the most important things about smoking everyday. it shouldnt get in the way of grades or your job unless you let it.

and you still can get way baked. i can get some good kush in mn right now and if you get a good rip off even a bowl you can have instant high still. not like way BAKED but still feeling a one hit high in a small degree for sure

even within the scope of "daily" smoking there's still a pretty big range.

if you start smoking as soon as you wake up, you'll get high the first time around, and will likely be lethargic for the rest of the day no matter how often you re-dose (each additional session usually adds about 20-30 more minutes of high before you're back down to just "stoned").

but if you're only smoking once or twice at the end of the day, you can still get really high consistently. a lot less boring and more rewarding as well.

I definitely still get high. I can still get really high too but that takes more weed then Im willing to usually use. I still feel functional when Im high but if I go to school high I feel functional but stupid. I try to only smoke right after school and Before I go to bed but usually end up slowly smoking my way from school to sleep. Its fun though and I get all my homework done, for once in my life, so me or my parents arn't complaining.

I don't notice a difference in motivation or thinking when smoking hard every day all day long. Maybe this is just me but I act the same just maybe a little more spaced out.

I better get at least 9 hours of sleep though if I want to keep it up the next day without getting those negative side affects.

Last spring, I started to smoke marijuana every evening. I would only smoke enough from the joint to get me where I wanted, and then clean up nicely and come back inside to enjoy the high. I didn't set out wanting to smoke every night, but two weeks later I was just like "Damn. I have been smoking out in my back yard every night. I should probably not do this every night because someone could catch me".

Then I abstained for a week but went right back to it, smoking every evening from April until early July. For me, the high never diminished during that time, but I really did not want to be smoking every night. Then I just switched to eating pot cookies because I didn't have to deal with going outside and dealing with paraphernalia and whatnot, the smell of the smoke, and so on.

I could never imagine myself smoking in the morning except on the rare occasion where I had nothing to do, and I especially cannot see myself smoking throughout the day. For me, smoking pot and doing anything productive just never mixed.

it all depends on if you develop a tolerance, which is wierd since THC is stored in the fat-cells of humans, to Cannabis is supposed to have a "reverse-tolerance" effeect...whatever.

anyway, i never did develop a tolerance and smoked everyday about 4 times a day for around 3 years...i still got pretty high and the highs lasted longer than 20 minutes, more like 2 hours or so (i smoked about 1.5-2g worth nearly every time), so it was ok. motivation definitely goes down, it's tough to keep yourself going when you know you're getting burned-out.

This is definately true, all my good friends and I began smoking more and more and more and we didn't really notice it. Were all really close and what not but we kind of seperated ourselves from our other friends although we still chill occasionally. None of us ever said anything and we just went on blazin, blazin, blazin.

This is usually how I feel these days. It's hard to get excited or motivated to do things especially if you know your going to be doing them sober. Sometimes though Ill be really lethargic and smoke a few bowls and then go do my homework or something lol

You can smoke everyday and not be stoned constantly. If you're smoking bowls from morning (or afternoon :)) til night everyday, then of course you're going to have a hard time being productive, but if your smoking is more controlled then it's quite possible to function like a regular person.

I enjoy smoking daily, as long as it's reasonable amounts, like 2 sessions per day or something.

Honest to God I am one of the luckiest college kids on the planet. I go to an incredibly liberal college where everyone smokes. Maybe not on a daily basis, but everyone tokes up from time to time. But the majority smoke every. fucking. day. The nice thing is, no one looks down if you need to take a break because, hey, more for us! But on average, I smoke 5-6 times a day of quality dank-to-CHRONIC. And, there is enough bud on campus that usually I only smoke my own weed once a day with a couple friends. There is actually so much weed on campus that dealers are having issues moving their product- on my floor alone there are six dealers. Just about everyone I know buy in ounces or more and sells to pay for their habit. Weed here is just... *sigh*. It's cheap (1.8-2.1 dub sacks, 30 dollar 1/8ths on a good day), potent, home grown/local/organic a lot of the time, and no one looks down on being high all the time. Smoking before class is more than common- it adds to the experience. Our profs all know, and they don't particularly care as long as you participate in class. (In fact, one of my teachers illustrated Terrence Mckenna's Psychedelic Plants of the pacific Northwest while she went to my college!)

It's pure stoner heaven.

Now I'm gonna go get high with my RA.

i dont recommend you become a daily toker, particulalry if your only becoming a daily toker to become a daily toker, if that makes any sense lol..

for me and my friends it was a natural progression which lasted about 2 years and only now are we starting to cut back and modify our use..

IF you really are intent on doing it, try and stay sober for the first 80% of the day and then enjoy some smoking after dinner or something.. this way tolerance does not build to an alarming degree and the high's can still be quite blissful... it won't be the same as if you smoke once in a blue moon, but thats really jsut common sense due to tolerance..

smoking multiple times a day is a bad habit 2 get into because

1) some people get really bad short term memory (funnily enough, this never affected me that badly- ive always had a good memory and continue 2 do so)

2) burn-out- once uve had 2 seshes in a day, 9/10 you will feel lazy, unproductive and too tired to really do anything properly- sure you can do things, such as go to class, but most likely your attention span will be way off and you won't get that satisfaction you may get from doing it like you would sober (lol satisfaction from class :S im talking about any activity here)

3) weed isnt a completely harmless drug, and some people are prone 2 develop anxiety, depression etc. from being stoned all day every day. i believe this is a combination of two things. the first thing is that physically, all you are doing is sitting around all day, doing nothing but perhaps watching tv or something-of CAUSE this is going 2 produce a negative mindset. add a drug 2 this, particularly one that has some psychedelic properties, and this mindset can be amplified so that problems occur... this is just my personal theory, quite a few people on here talk about the brain being "re-wired" , not sure if thats true but i guess the brain has 2 cope with it somehow

4) when i started smoking weed, it was a near-psychedelic experience and in some ways i would compare it to a lsd trip without the headfuck- i would get extreme euhporia, non stop laughter and you couldnt take the grin off my face. when i was daily toking, particularly multiple times with high doses, that went away to a big degree and i would get mild euphoria, some happiness/smiling and only very very rare laughter fits with a lot more negatuve side effects such as being tired all the time n stuff. i would get insane CEV but then only mild patterns and stuff.... if for any reason at all, and you don't give two shits about your health, don't become a daily toker becuz it will ruin what weed can be and that can take a long time to come back

FYI i cut down my use chronically due to anxiety issuess, and now i smoke zero or one times a day and only one-three cones per time smoking..it has only been two weeks of this and already the high has gotten a bit better, the anxiety is a lot easier to cope with and sober life has been a lot more enjoyable..

o and also, i always enjoyed sober life, just being stoned was better lol it improved everything. however some of my friends felt as if they needed a cone to put themselves in a good mindset for the day
