What info do I need to give/get to sell my car?

I am on my own completely. I am in a pinch and need to sell my car. I have several people that want to purchase my car but I don't know what the process is for selling it? Like what all information do I need to collect from them? What do I need to give them? How do I sign over my car title? Do I take my license plates off and keep them?

Sorry for such a stupid question this is my first time selling a vehicle and don't have many places to turn. Thanks, and oh yeah I am located in Virginia if that helps.

sign/daate title keep plates scrape off reg sticker transfer plates if getting a new car else tuurn in to dmv

i think a signed title also needs to be notarized. you can get stuff notarized at the bank if you show ID before signing it. otherwise you need to find a public notary.

In california, it's as easy as signing your name at the designated spot on the title and handing it over.

And to cover your ass, you get their name and address for the release of liability slip and fill out a bill of sale.


The legally abstract powers of possession we give a simple slip of paper are really quite interesting if you think about it!
