What can I do with an Associates Degree? (Renamed)

I just got my associates and am trying to transfer to a school in philly and live there. Question is what jobs are open to me now that I have an associates degree in liberal arts, I am a long way from writing scripts to patients, but I would like to help people as a job (counselor etc) anybody know any good jobs or resources to look for one?

When you say that you are transferring to a school in Philly, do you mean to pursure a Bachelor's Degree? Or is it something different? Honestly, I think your best bet is to show up at this new school and speak to someone in their career counciling office.

I am assuming you're looking for a part-time job while you are doing this new program at the new school? Generally, part-time jobs care less about credentials than full-time ones, so that should work in your favor.

I don't know where you're going to be going to school, but at my University if you're in financial need, the school will pay you $10hr to do what's called "work study."

They basically make up jobs within the different faculties, depts, etc, and you become an employee of the University for as long as you need the money.
 
thanks for the replies (and for changing the title). I am persuing a bachelors degree and am trying to use my current degree to find a part (or possibly full time) job because I am moving to the city. Need that rent money. Anyone else that studied liberal arts, tell me your story. Psychology and Sociology are my main areas of study.
 
I'm confused. You mentioned "writing scripts"

Are you going to get a BA, then write the MCAT?

From what I understand, liberal studies programs at vocational schools are meant to prep you for University and give you a few transfer credits to get you started. The (associates) degree alone doesn't really have any marketable applications, although I suppose it doesn't look bad on a resume.

It may help for some sort of administrative work, but otherwise it will show employers you made it through a couple years of school. Might I suggest if you got a GPA of 3.0 or higher, adding that to your resume as well.

Look into substitute teaching. You make anywhere from $80 to $100 a day (In my area) and all you do is babysit the kids. If they don't do whatever work their teacher has provided for them to do on that day the teacher handles it.

Some universities have special programs for new transfers; The college I'm transferring into lets me qualify to go for a Masters degree program in which I can earn my MA in 2 years along with my teaching certification.
 
thanks for all the replies. The substitute teacher thing sounds great however I believe my state (PA) requires a bachelors degree for any type of teaching (not to mention the praxis test). I would love to have a job like that right now,
