What are you quitting for better health?

After a week of post-mdma anxiety and a rave this past weekend, I decided to try quitting chemicals for a while to see what difference it makes.

So far, with the exception of 1/2 a rolled cigarette, I've gone nearly 48 hours without taking any other drugs/substances. Right after the rave (friday night) after having a lot of weed and drinking, Saturday felt horrid, which is the day I stopped. Today though tired without caffeine, I'm feeling pretty good! I hope I can keep it up for a couple of weeks. I plan to completely stop smoking cigarettes, have less coffee (used to have about 5-7 cups a day), and it will provide a good break time from MDMA.

Has anyone else done this? If so, what were your experiences? Is anyone else actively quitting something?

HFCS. Used to drink it heavily but havent had more than a can of mountain dew or two in the past couple months. Gonna try to keep at it and eventually never drink it again.

I quit pot in August and feel a little bit better every day. Left me permanently jaded, even when I hadn't smoked for a couple days... Still not 100% but I'm gettin' there.

Quit smoking cigarettes in March. Quit diary and eggs completely around January '10.

Felt amazing when I quit eggs/dairy and cigs within a couple weeks of each other.

Well I gave up drinking for a good two weeks and felt great. Then I got bored today and figured I'd drink some beer. Probably won't drink again for a while after this.

Also, I decided I'm not going to jerk off for two weeks starting 2 days ago. Gonna try to harness those sexual powers man...

It's amazing to me how people report negative side effects from smoking weed - I love it, and it makes me feel fresh and completely fine, always!

I quit drinking and smoking cigarettes completely, and haven't done either for about two months.

I also gave up my compulsive over-eating habits... Thank god. I've lost 15kg!

Got a huge stash of roxis and benzos last week. All I did for a week straight after work was the trifecta of booze, roxis, klononpins and boat loads of cigs. Then I ran out couldnt find shit/didnt feel like drinking/I dont have any urge to smoke when not high. So I guess my withdrawals really suck b/c I quit everything all at once.

I've quit fast foods, nicotine, alcohol, caffeine for 2 years now with others being less or more. It's being confident in the information that helped me the most, usually you get opinions from several different sources and you wonder to yourself 'am I doing this right' or 'is this really helping'?

Good luck man, I'm feeling better than ever.

i quit smoking weed, was a heavy smoker from a very young age smoking heavy for about 4 years nd havent smoked for 2 years now, feel great for that.
im trying to stop drinking to loose that pot belly nd see some events with a clear non-alco mind.

in saying that im still a fan of mdxx, coke nd some psychs. ;)

Well, I was smoking it every single day, some days multiple times a day. Did this for months straight before I had to quit. Prior to a couple month hiatus (to get a job) I smoked for years, every single day, multiple times a day.

Congrats on the weight loss btw!

You wouldn't happen to remember how long it was until you felt "right," do you? 'Cause it's been about three months for me, and I still don't feel 100% like me, if that makes any sense.

Im giving up cigarettes although ill keep smoking weed every now and then

Also easing into raw foodism, so im cutting out animal products and anything cooked and processed

yeh i guess ill see how that goes :P

^ Mysterie, try easing into raw foodism by going Vegan first. Maybe even start with Vegetarianism. If you want it to be a "somewhat quick" transition, set a date about a month away and say by that date, you'll be raw. The first week, give up meat, maybe eggs/dairy. Next week, give up eggs/dairy if you hadn't, and some processed foods. Week after, give up the rest of the processed foods, and start giving up cooked food. The final week, you'll be well on your way. :)

As a personal rule, I don't ever consume caffeine (it really fucks with my adenosine receptors ;) ) and never drink soda; in fact, I only drink water. However, these are things I naturally abstain from.

In terms of quitting? I'm currently in a maelstrom of quitting things. I just quit cigarettes using dipping tobacco to wean myself off (dont judge me! at least it worked). On top of that, I'm 2 days clean off smoking weed and need to maintain this as I will be drug tested for a job I was recently hired for. I want to get high, but I agree with this:

[Pot] left me permanently jaded, even when I hadn't smoked for a couple days... Still not 100% but I'm gettin' there.

And I feel more alive already!

As if stopping smoking weren't enough, I stopped drinking about three weeks ago in order to halt progressive alcoholism. It's been really hard, I've wanted to sneak a pint of gin for a while now, but know in my heart its the right thing to do for my relationship, motivation and depression. So I've got to keep going.

So that's tobacco, marijuana and alcohol. But I'm not finished. :\

I've been on pregabalin (Lyrica) since July. I love it, I love its anxiolytic effects, as well as its ability to improve my insomnia, depression and motivation. I am, in a sense, "addicted" to Lyrica. However, there's a distinct possibility that it's causing a nerve disease in me that has persisted for 6 weeks now. I made the decision yesterday to taper off of Lyrica, for the sake of my ability to use my right hand, which I currently cant. I made a thread about it on here asking for advice, even.

I'm amazed that I've successfully quit 3 staple drugs in my life and am going for a 4th. I still take Valium, but tapering off of that (my doctor's idea, but I know it's right) will just have to wait.

It's sorta exciting to be clean from a bunch of things that used to cloud my perception all the time. But it's sooo hard, too. Congratulations to everyone who has successfully gotten rid of an addiction, or at least a habit, and best of luck to those trying, like me.

Nice thread, OP.

I'm not anything deep fried for the rest of the year.

Nor am I eating as much carbs.

These two tend to be quick eats for me and do me no good.

I'm having slight carb withdrawals at the moment, but waiting for the part where I get over the cravings.
