Fuck it, I'm going to give this thread some CPR:

Denim - Summer Smash

Ticking both the 'pop', 'cool' and 'obscure' (because EMI pulled it days before release) boxes, with a side dash of tragedy cos it's Lawrence. How about that, eh?

Oh, and besides that it's just a lovely, happy song. If you're fortunate enough to be bathed in sunshine today then give it a spin. If you're not, give it two.

Right now I'm listening to Original Pirate Material, for about the 3rd time today.

"Pull out yer sack & sit back" haha

The Streets on Saturday %) Gonna get fucking ruined on MD 8o

Glasgow is fucking wild for live music this weekend. Friday night - Jackmaster & Joy Orbison B2B in Stereo, while Raresh is playing Subby & MJ Cole is playing (I think) The Art School, then The Streets on Saturday in ABC. I doubt I'm making it out on Friday though.

Me too! Have done since I was a kid and my dad would bring home tapes he'd been given by IRA prisoners who he taught guitar to in the jail. (He was a prison teacher)

Ride on is a beautiful song

hay, did he ever bring home the broad black brimmer, ? my brother would sing that at inappropriate gtherings, coz he was only a little un, and he sang it in all innocence

I always had Loyalist tapes, that belonged to or were given to me by my dad, kicking about when I was a wee guy. Got one confiscated at primary school, along with my walkman (rightly so thinking back, a fucking 8 year old shouldn't be listening to songs about the UVF). :| Fuck knows why it seemed totally appropriate to take your small child to Rangers game & actively encourage him to sing songs like Build My Gallows, Derry's Walls etc is beyond me. It's not like my dad is a mad bam orange bastard or anything, he's quite a calm, normal guy but for some reason if it was in the context of football then any sort of hatred/bigotry/abuse/racism/swearing was perfectly acceptable, even encouraged :\

I would also do the inappropriate singing of songs, particularly at my grandpa's house (who was catholic). One day I was singing "... we're up to our knees in Fenian blood, surrender or you'll die..." completely innocently, my mum was going bonkers yet I couldn't understand why so kept on singing it all day lol.
