So very wrong... but not your fault ;)

Mondays are pure drugs. All of 'em. At once. Yanks never quite understood that vibe. Shaun Ryder & Co either scare 'em off or discombobulate 'em or bore 'em shitless. Cos Yanks don't do drugs. No offence. They don't though.

More to the point, it was an epochal thang. They (according to legend) literally introduced MDMA to this country from selling it to fund gigs. True or not it's one hell of a legend. They are that legend. And it was more true than not, in many ways.

Take a hefty dose of MDMA, listen to Happy Mondays - Wrote For Luck (live NYC '88 ) and tell me that's not pure class <3

Re. The mondays , I remember having a U.S Singles Album on cassette it had a different mix of loose fit on it n the 1st track was 24hr part people.
I bought it in the states in 1993 , anyone else familiar wit this Album ? I've never come across it again n lost it years ago:(

The Wrote For Luck 12" sleeve is a thing of rare beauty. Takes me back to school and the Madchester 5th years in flared school keks.

One of them copied it for his art project and it was still on display at the school when I left in 1996. :D

Manu Chao ´ Mama Call

His concert (on saturday) was a real disappointment. Too fast (punk drums at times) and indentical at the end of each song (with the drums). I would expect much more from him.

If only it were recognised for the pop masterpiece it was, I'd be listening to Wild And Free by Byker Grove's imaginary boyband, Rude. Alas, there is no link. :\

So instead, as it's sunny: Kenickie - Stay In The Sun.

Bittersweet song anyway. More so, given Laverne's shameless meeja careerism that was to follow. Reminds me of being eighteen on one hand, and much older (and debatably wiser) on the other.

Ah, I remember really hating them at the time, but kinda gave 'em a bit of a second chance after warming to Ms. Laverne's TV work. Or just her general niceness really. I particularly remember one type of chat show she did where she hosted it from a bed. Fuck knows what it was called, but it was way back in the days of shite like Popped In Crashed Out and stuff.

Blonde Redhead - Swing Pool

^ If I'd disliked Kenickie among my group of friends in the late 90s / early 2000s I would've got a slap at the very least. :D

Though I hated their first album because it was trying that little too hard. Had it played to me non-stop by a posh girl whose 'Bit o' Rough-Lite' I was at the time too. Some good tunes though.
