Back when I was still in my experimenting phase (a.k.a. "I wanna try every drug ever!" phase), I used to think introducing people to drugs was not that big of a deal, of course I knew it wasn't very wise but I figured if I'm cautious and smart, and don't introduce people that I know have addictive tendencies and compulsions, it'll be ok. Subsequently I've introduced a couple (as in, two. Maybe three, but I'm not sure) of people to I.V. coke (might as well give them a gun, heh), luckily no one got hooked, no lives were ruined. But I think the worst decision I've made as far as playing a part in someone's first experience with a certain drug, was letting my best friend do heroin. He had shot coke before and nothing happened, he didn't like how intense it was, and on top of that opiates had never been his cup of tea. He kept giving me rides for me to score dope for myself, and was sick of driving only for me to get high, so he wanted to make the trip worthwhile and decided to give it a try, despite my recommendations and advice not to make such a "fucking ridiculously unwise" choice.
I told him the risks and dangers, what to expect, and anything else I thought might be of importance before injecting a new substance in your body. He went ahead and gave it a try, his mind was already long ago made up despite anything I might say, so I prepped him a tiny starter shot just to make sure he wasn't allergic to opiates or might be extremely sensitive to it. Of course, he whined about not feeling much at all, so he decided to prep what seemed like a good shot for him, and from that moment on, from the second he took the point out of his arm and laid back into the couch groaning in pleasure, that was it. The next 4 months consisted basically of just him and me going every day to score, usually shooting up 2-3-4-5 times a day or more, and the rest is history. He's clean now, after going cold turkey, but still relapses once in a while.
But yeah, I think that's the worst decision I've made so far when it comes to letting someone try a drug for the first time. My passiveness towards it at first, thinking it was no big deal, ended up changing the course of a life. The life of one of my closest friends. I feel awful for that, even though he said it was entirely his choice, "I'm an adult, I do what I want" mentality of his at the time, but still.
Anyways, what are some of your stories regarding the subject? I think the worst would be to introduce someone to something dangerous and easily fatal like IV coke/heroin, and having them die in your arms. Or introducing someone to crack and find out they've become a crack whore less than 6 months later.
