What are the harmful effects of Levamisole?

So I was just reading elsewhere on BL that coke is often cut with this water-soluble veterinary dewormer. What are the specific dangers of ingesting this chemical? Is it really so unsafe as to warrant avoiding any coke that could possibly be cut with it?
 
It's pretty scary, and judging from some reports I've read on Bluelight, not all the information spread via the standard news outlets is simply part of a scare tactic:

Levamisole suppresses the production of white blood cells, resulting in neutropenia and agranulocytosis. With the increasing use of levamisole as an adulterant, a number of these complications have been reported among cocaine users.[3][13][14] Levamisole has also been linked to a risk of vasculitis,[15] and 2 cases of vasculitic skin necrosis have been reported in users of cocaine adulterated with levamisole.[16]

Is there a way to detect its presence with a Mercke or Marquie reagant test? I can only find plans for a specific Levamisole testing kit to be produced, it doesn't seem to be available to the masses yet. There is a recipe for how to make your own, but it is so involved that I don't think it would be worth it--might as well just swear off the devil's dandruff until the testing kit actually comes out.
 
Unfortunately that's probably the best course of action. In the spirit of harm reduction...just the chance that the cocaine could be cut with levamisole is enough to make me shy away from doing it until there's some way of telling if its in there or not.
 
Something that may or may not be related to levamisole: I very recently read in the newspaper that cocaine consumption is the US is WAAY down over this past year. Whether this is partly due to people being aware of this dangerous cut present in most of the cocaine confiscated by law enforcement or whether it is simply a natural market cycle I can't say. I believe that those who are aware of this dangerous cut are shying away from cocaine right now, and it would be in the best interest of the coke producers to eliminate this dangerous cut unless they want there profits to plummet, and we all know that they would not want their sales to drop. I believe that the producers will soon ( if they havent already) stop using levamisole to cut the coke . And from my understanding even an acetone wash will not eliminate the levi .
