What are the different # of Heroin?

I'm having trouble just finding a simple explanation of what Heroin #3 and Heroin #4, etc is. Here in the northeast we get the powdered form you can just mix with water and shoot. Is that Heroin #4? And in the west they get tar so is that heroin #2? Could someone please explain what each one is so I know what the hell everyone is talking about when they mention the numbers?

#3 is heroin in freebase form. So it's smokable, but doesn't dissolve so easily in water. Acidifying the water helps. Not really snortable.
#4 is a salt of heroin. Dissolves well in water, not really smokable unless mixed with caffeine. Can be snorted and shot up easily.

Number 1 and 2 I'm not really sure about off the top of my head, but those aren't sold normally anyway.

Google was the first thing I tried. And just like your post all I found were answers for Heroin #3 and #4. Although your answer was easier to understand. I was just hoping someone could make a simple list of what the 4 are.
 
I believe its something like this:

#1 morphine base
#2 morphine acetate (probably the stuff you'll find in black tar, AKA 6-Monoacetylmorphine and 3--Monoacetylmorphine)
#3 morphine diacetate (or heroin base, AKA 3,6-Diacetylmorphine)
#4 heroin salt (AKA 3,6-Diacetylmorphine hydrochloride)

To my knowledge BTH contains a reasonable amount of 6-monoacetylmorphine (6-MAM) and 3-MAM, which I assume what according to 4meSM #2 refers to. Although, as I said, #1 and #2 are rarely sold on their own if at all.
 
Tar wasn't really around when they invented the numbering system. I think it would be considered #4 with more impurities (6-mam and 3-mam) than ecp.
 
To me it seems like BTH is amateur's heroin (hence the incomplete acetylation and lack of purification), so I'd imagine it'd been around before any of the cleaner versions of heroin were. Not a US historian, dough.
 
meh, technically tar isn't really heroin...I mean, it is in that it contains diamorphine alkaloids, but the conversion process between morphine and heroin is halted halfway.

Black tar heroin is actually a pretty recent development in the heroin market, when compared to heroin generally-speaking. The proliferation on the west coast only occured when opium production in Mexico started really booming. It doesn't contain as much diamorphine as normal heroin, but it contains more 3-MAM and 6-MAM morphine alkaloids. So it's enjoyable in its own unique way.
 
I heard it tastes like shit though? I prefer heroin #3 to #4. Just the chasing it off foil feels safer than snorting and a more gradual build up. Although the time I did try #4 I enjoyed it very special experience given the stuff I had was 95% pure.

I'm glad it is mostly #3 in europe. It seems safer and less easy for shady dealers to bash it with fent. Too much of that happens in the US, it would worry me using H in the places its mostly #4 sold in stamps, that seems like a dodgy scene.
 
Yeah it doesn't taste all that great. You learn to like the taste of it because your brain associates the taste with getting high, though. Kind of like meth vapor.

Even though I've IV'd tar before, I actually still enjoy smoking it very much. In fact smoking is my most common ROA for tar, I'll only shoot on "special occasions" (well, more like never as I'm currently trying to leave that particular habit in the past, I've just been kind of grossed out by the drug scene here lately...people can't handle their shit, especially people in my generation it seems). IMO there's no "rush" with smoking tar, unlike snorting it or shooting it, but it does have a nice warm sedating high. A great "treatment" for my insomnia. It's also definitely safer than just dumping it into your bloodstream via IV.

I've never been particularly fond of smoking drugs off of aluminum foil for some reason, though. :\

with meth, on the other hand, there's only one ROA: IV. IMO. :sus:
 
I actually prefer tar to ecp. They're pretty equal in potency ime if you have good sources. It could be environmental factors though as I prefer the west/rocky mtn areas to the eastern us. Powder always seemed kind of one-sided in comparison.
